Hey welcome!
It seems that the best luck is predominately in eucalypt forest areas. So maybe keep an eye out for areas like that and see how you go.

hey dudes there has been a fuck load of rain in the last few days! I should know cos I've been walking through it. lol

Anyways I went through deep creek conservation park and found a couple of shrooms on the side of the heysen trail about 500 metres west from the Eagle Water Hole campsite. I ate those and had a bit of an unpleasant trip, felt like some demon was trying to drill into my brain. I think it had something to do with the crazy storm raging all around me.

The point of the story is that there are shrooms in that area, i bet if someone went and did a good search they would find plenty. Tomorrow I'm going into Inman valley so I'll let you know if I find anything there.

Hey Stacj, I live kinda near there! There's heaps of those look-alike shrooms - but some subs there are small, orangish gills, stain blue around the cap margin and a bit on the stalk sometimes with a purple spore print as well - immature subs? I found some there yesterday, ate 8 but had only negligible effect... but eventually found one classic sub, 6cm cap, which I ate this evening and tripped balls! Once again it had a lemony flavour - is this a Belair thing??
The only place where I found subs seems to have petered out now, damn it, unless all this rain will harbinger another flush...
I also found a deadly gal. right where the patch is - a really convincing  imposter - 'shall post a pic tomorrow... good luck hunting, they have to be in there somewhere! Otherwise it's good exercise

You ate the wrong mushroom.  In the future post an ID request with clear pictures if you aren't 100% sure.

Sorry dude, am figuring out the pics thing; I have a pic, was getting dark, the blueing increased with time - on the cap & cap margin, the gills & stalks...

At least one of those is Psilocybe subaeruginosa, but the others I am not so sure about.  The mushroom on the right in the pic on the left appears to have a stem that is far too dark.  Its hard to tell if pic # 2 is Leratiomyces ceres or Psilocybe subaeruginosa.  Make sure they stain blue and have purple-brown spore prints and you won't have any problems.

The left image contains the mushrooms I talked about, they were a little weather damaged, the one on the right looks suss; as it's stalk is kinda dark, but it kept on blueing as did all in the picture and the other 4 I picked. As mentioned, the spore print was purple... I await your diagnosis dear chap...

The image on the right is a galerina? It's the one I referred to growing in a proved sub patch, rusty orange spore print, stalk became more orange with time & not a hint of blue at all.
