Hello,
I have a 6"x12"x4" size block of casing, and im starting to get Really fluffy mycelium patch's on the surface. about 20% of the surface has the fluffy mycelium.
but the container i have it in is clear...but i do not see any mycelium growth on the side of the tub..or really much at the bottom of the tub.
This started off as verm cakes, and we are around day 5.
how come i dont see growth on the side of the container.. is this ok?
and why is the mycelium really fluffy?
should i give it a few more days till i put it in the Fruiting chamber or...

How fast did the "mycelium" colonize the surface? It sounds like it could be trichoderma that hasn't sporulated yet.

Seems rhizomorphic to me!
Edit: Although it is a bit gray. It's white right? Just from the photo?

stuff on the sides looks good, top looks like cobweb, lots of people say to hose it with some H2O2 But I find a little air does wonders.

I really don't think it is cobweb. It looks rhizo. To the OP it's white right? The picture made it a bit gray?

DO NOT spray it down. It is healthy mycelium!

I don't really understand what you mean. Did you let the cakes fully colonize?

It looks as though it is "covering the top" instead of colonizing from within. and doesn't looks dense enough. well leave it go a while and if it is cobweb it will cover the top very rapidly..
You want all white before fruiting.

That looks extremely unhealthy. The black spots look like mold to me.

It really answered my question!
Where's that tub sitting? Temps... what are you doing to it? Do you mist? Were the cakes fully colonized? Did you give them consolidation week?
