yeah the weathers been great. Lots and lots of rain over the last few days would have done wonders for the mushrooms
Should go for a hunt this weekend hopefully. Ill post my finds

Going out today. The rain has settled and so we are going to go for a hunt. Will be at Lobethal bakery for lunch at about 12:30. If you are in the area, it will be me and my partner, look for a big guy with long hair and a beard with a woman with copper coloured hair.
Ill take some nice piccys for ya's

Went for a bit of a hunt today, down Scotts Creek way. Found a few mushrooms, nothing active i dont think
Found these as soon as i got out of the car, unsure of ID tho:

Interesting coral kind of mushroom, lions mane?

And hundreds of these, which got my hopes up every time

Habitat shot

Will go back out tomorrow!

We went to Watts Gully. Not a huge spot but there is a small area where we regularly find about a dozen mushrooms or so...enough for me
Here are some pics as promised, Ive got more of inactive mushrooms and area shots, but Ill only post these unless others want to see what inactives are in the area.
First up, 2 older subs here, I dont usually pick them this age. Can you see them? lol
 what about now?
here is one of them up close

next up here is a single sub about mid aged. lovely
 and closer

A couple of shots of nice young ones.
 and

This is a strange purple one, never seen it before but we saw 4 examples of it today, very slimy kind of mushroom, purple all over it. im doing a spore print now.

again, no idea what these are, but I like this photo

and lastly, a shot of the area, the creek is running nicely with all this rain

Ive reduced these images, I hate doing it but for the sake of bandwidth...

I left it overnight for the spore print. It came out orange/light brown. Certainly not yellow.

I found a nice little sub and ate the thing thinking it couldn't possibly affect me too much. About 20mins later I was tripping and didn't even want to hunt anymore! lol So now I'm back home and still feeling it. I might go out later this arvo or I'll have to leave it till tomorrow. hehe

lol awesome. I just realised i didnt dry my shrooms out enough, a couple of the older ones started to go mouldy so I had to throw them out, so Ive crumbed up the others and will consume them all today yay.

hey guys I found about 200-300 subs today. but I was only able to pick 80 of them coz the position was quite exposed. The thing is I'm not sure if they are subs or some other type of psilocybe. The stem is more a browny red colour with only the top couple of centimeters being whitish. The shrooms all bruise blue on the mycelium, gills, stem, and cap. Some stems were completely blue. The thing is that they don't really look like the subs in any of the photos I've seen on here.
Also how effective is air drying these things without a fan? I've just got them all laid out on the table but I've got no fan.
I was thinking that if there were any helpful shroomies out there with a fan I might be able to organise a trade with you... subs for fan lol I'd hate these to go to waste.
What are the other possible psilocybe species in South Australia?
thanks

well I'm thinking that the ones I found were psilocybe aucklandii...
here are a couple of pics, not good quality as I don't have digital camera.

none of them have a nipple on the top though and they are not really golden, more a dull brown... I found a sub earlier today and these ones looked nothing like it...
here is a shot of them all together, don't tell me they are subs. lol

I know it's not an aucklandii
Not all subs have a nipple on top and the colours of the ones above suggest that they have been exposed to the elements for a while.
P.aucklandii picture taken last year, 140km North of Auckland. The cap is the giveaway for these guys:

well some of the ones I found look exactly like those photos.
And I thought that the caps of older subs turned upwards, none of these ones did, they were all facing downwards.
I'm telling you man these look nothing like the subs in any photo I've seen on this forum. Stems are not even white!

Not all of them turn upwards either, they vary so much. The ones that I have found recently are twice the size of what I usually find and their stems are quite brown, opposed to white. Maybe where you found them there has been alot of rain, staining them?
The pics you posted of the single one says sub to me. Have you any pictures of others?
Really though, take prints if think they are of any scientific value.

I trust you man, I just didn't think they looked like the average sub.
I've just made a tea out of three decent sized ones. They have all turned very blue in the water. Not sure if three is a lot but I'm in a good mood so it should be fun. I'll let you know how it goes.
