look at other prep methods, how clean are you when you prepare your syringe, jars, etc?

Learn sterile culture technique. It isn't at all as easy as you thing you have to be methodical. You have a glovebox? a simple cardboard box with a sheet of plastic over the front works better than nothing sometimes. Usually one overlooks something so obvious. Every surface must be wiped down properly from containers to instruments to the surface your working on. If you set something down it needs to be wiped again before implementing.

Yes somehow you're missing something either a PC or use new substrate material..A good glovebox is a must also reliable spores If you don't have a good print to work from that could be you're problem....Contams are really easily avoided if you folow tek's to the T hope this helps good luck in the future.........e

Maybe you don't sterilize your jars long enough?
I ask, because my last 3 jars got contammed super-green, and the only difference with the rest was that I PC'ed those 3 jars last (it's a small PC and I had to do 3 batches that day). Those contams were due to insufficient PC time.

Make yourself a homemade glove box using a clear rubber tote.
Spray non scented Lysol into the glove box and let settle with tools and jars.
Put on some glove and flame the needle red hot and your golden.
I haven't contamed in a long time.

What kind of jars are you shooting up? How are you prepping them? A glovebox is nice, but it's not totally necessary. But good sterile materials are.

Sorry man but most of us would agree that its totally necessary, It's not a smart move to work with out it. Its cheap, you can buy one for around 6$. Pretty cheap. A flow hood would be great but more expensive.
If your not using a pressure cooker then I would recomend saving your money. 60$ Walmart. Pressure cookers do 90% of the sterilizing. The other 10% is all you.

I'm only on my first grow but I feel like you don't absolutely need to use a glovebox. The alternative to using one would be doing the inoculation in the cleanest room of your house (doesn't matter where, but kitchens and bathrooms are bad). Turn off the air conditioning/heating system, shut the door, clean all of your utensils, have everything ready to go, then just don't move for a good five minutes or so to let the air settle.

If you're just on your first grow don't just come up with theories that go against people with thousends of grows. What do you know about it? A bathroom is the best place to do it if you clean it up well. There's hardly any wood and there are no carpets or if there are you can take them out. I spray everything with bleach, wipe everything with alcohol, use a glovebox, shower, brush teet, wear gloves, scrubs, head net...
Edit: I just wish I had a flow hood...

You have to understand that their are all kinds of micro organisms floating all around, even walking stirs them all up. You may get lucky but why risk it? You spent your cash to get this far whats 6 more?
Just make it simple
Lysol the air and let it settle.
Cut two holes and wear gloves.

You don't absolutely need to, but why wouldn't you? They're dead easy to make and can be made for ultra cheap. So why not do it and help eliminate potential problems?

Not to be mean but for a person on their first grow, I wouldn't be giving that advice... Quote:

. On the other hand, you did offer some great advice.... Quote:
Turn off the air conditioning/heating system,
. That is something important that most people miss. If the OP has had zero success, then you shouldn't cut ANY corners. A glove box is simple to make, inexpensive and absolutely indispensable tool for a beginning mycologist.

If you are using your bathroom then move to your dining room. To many germs in the bathroom. Some people get away with using the bathroom but I wouldn't risk it. GL, CH
