I don't think so. It's more likely that english will become one world language. I think that esperanto does not have that potential. It exists for a relatively long time and it's still just a trivial thing.

I like a variety of languages because language barriers preserve culture. The spanish speaking world is different than the english speaking world for instance and I wouldn't want a one world language to destroy those cultural differences.

A one world language isn't possible.
Even if you could somehow magically change everyone right now to speak the same language eventually different dialects would emerge, and over time they would evolve into entirely different languages.
