Looks more like Panaeolus foenisecii to me. Also, Panaeolus rickenii are more commonly known as P. acuminatus.

i've apparently been eating them for a while, had em confused with somethin else. eat few and you should feel kinda drunk-like real mellow, eat a bunch and smoke some pot and things can get a little trippy. likely do to the seretonin content, not really active though. they're not as rough on the stomach as most people think, but that might just be me

rhey are not active, but not poisonous either. but Ive read the serotonin thingy too.. But Im not so sure, on the trippy effect. I can say that i ate a few one morning and laid down, I could hear voices in the dream state before I dosed off, and my CEV before sleep was intense.. The next time I ate them, totally nothing..

Yea but you are one of those people that can get a buzz off of eating almost any random mushroom. Not that thats a bad thing, its actually a very good thing. There is a guy in out local mycological society like that, he swears he gets high off of Psathyrella gracilis, Stropharia riparia, and a few others. He doesn't say it too loud in front of scientists though. And he is cool as hell!
Serotonin has no effect because it can't cross the blood brain barrier. The 5-htp may have some effect though.
In 1963 Tyler and Smith found that Panaeolina foenisecii contains serotonin, 5-htp and 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid.

You can. They aren't poisonous. But they won't get you high either.

i don't care who i say it in front of, it works for me, that's all i'm worried about. and since i've yet to find any actives they're gonna keep on workin for me, at least for now.
i did not know that about seretonin. 5-htp, is that tryptophan or a precursor/metabolite. i know it's related somehow. and the 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid, i can't find any info on it, know where i might be able to find some articles on the subject? the fact that it has an indole group in it could explain the psychoactive effects that a select few people, such as myself, experience when ingesting large quantities, maybe, i'm not a biochemist
