mycelium growth stages in cake jars
    #10500640 - 06/13/09 05:28 PM (14 years, 9 months ago)

hello shroom world!!! ok so ive searched and search but couldn't find a thread that had the picture cycles of mycelium from week to week... anyone care to share?

------------------------------

if someone has them they should stickie the post

------------------------------

i obviously dont have pictures im just starting out, its been 4 days and i dont know if what im seeing is signs of life or not...

what i see is a kinda grey cotton growing where i used my syringe(thats in all jars)
is that how they first start out?... if it is im really excited*and i'll take pictures *

side note: its not crazy grey growth its kinda just spots here and there and forming on the bottom.

another note :P: i even checked the suggestion posts and found one but all the sites that are listed dont work >.<

Take a look in the Grow Logs section, unfortunately I dont have pictures.  Hopefully your growth is more white than grey but what you are describing sounds right.  Good Luck!

think this is about 6 or 7 days.

There isnt really phases of growth.

You start to see fuz, it gets thicker then grows outward radially and you should see rhyzos. and it continually spreads outward

well if you want to get technical :P...

i just thought it would be nice to see a picture to picture of start to full colonization of a BRF jar..

i guess it ranges from like your case just 6 days for 1/4 of colonization and im no where near that(i think maybe because the spores are old)

so instead of saying how long just have pictures from 0%-100% colonization

ok that would be sweet... i dont think it would matter if it is the same jar only how progressed the growth is,

so just eye-ball it :P..

and make a new post and go from 0%-100% with pictures a long the way

---------------------

maybe they'll sticky the post so newbies will know exactly what to look for

this is where im at just now, while the rest of my jars catch up. silly me done 2 cakes at a time every few days untill i had 12 then i done a batch of 4 a day after that

didnt think that through did i.

1 colinised jar so i just decided to crumble it while the others catch up.

No, its crumbled cakes.

Its a mini double tub. 2 small food storage containers. this 1 was a conveneinet at the time, i just so happened to have 2 containers that fitted together without having to glue the lids together and cut out the middle.

The tub has the substrate inside, no perlite just substrate which is what humidifies the chamber.

I dont recomend crumbling cakes though particularly if its your first time round. Just fruit em in a terrarium with perlite.

That tub is a test i have a much bigger one that that. No perlite means double tubs or mono tubs it is for me. Ill be spawning to bulk though also
