I just ran across what I think are a few isolated Pleurotus ostreatus growing out of a split in a tree.
I just checked it out and touched a cap to see if it is soft (it is.)
I think I will go back tomorrow to get a spore print, pictures, and harvest the mushrooms.
After doing some searches I found that these generally fruit in the fall. Maybe the recent cool temps have tricked it into fruiting? Have any from NE US found Pleurotus ostreatus in the early summer? (more tomorrow)
