Stimulus dollars fund study on marijuana June 2, 2009 - katu.com
VANCOUVER, Wash. - A Southwest Washington psychology professor has received federal stimulus money to study marijuana and pain management.
WSU Vancouver Professor Michael Morgan qualified to receive $148,438 for his two-year study, which aims to determine whether the use of marijuana along with other anti-pain medications such as morphine provides better pain relief than either drug alone.
The grant from the National Institutes of Health is part of the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the economic stimulus package enacted by Congress and signed by the president in February.
"This research is innovative in the field," Morgan said in a news release. "Currently there are no other projects that are studying this chemical relationship using these parameters."
His project was picked because of "its potential to stimulate the economy and create or retain jobs within the community" as well as its likelihood of making scientific progress in two years, school officials said in a news release.

Should I be happy this study is being conducted or angry that it has nothing to do with stimulating the economy? I'M SO CONFUSED.

The reason you should be angry is because we don't need any more federal studies of marijuana which like so skew things for a pro-prohibition stance. I know this study is being done by a psychology professor at some university, but even they seem to churn out bad non-factual studies on marijuana once the government gets involved.
I fucking can't believe the PROPAGANDA we have seen with pot and the US government. It is so blatantly obvious that HEAVY bias seems to follow every government "study" on weed and they continue to LIE to millions of people to scare them away from the idea of legalization. You notice that they like to come out with scary studies right when the movement starts to gain momentum?
And you know why they do this? Not because they think it is right, or that legalization would be a bad thin, at least if that was true one could say they are trying to be noble (depending on your morality this could still be considered wrong). No, they LIE for MONEY and POWER. It comes down to the tobacco companies, alcohol companies, pharmaceutical companies, fabrics companies, paper companies, banks, DEA, NIDA, and the good ol' PO PO who want their money.
Fuck that.
God damn I'm mad.

We should just wait and see the results.
If it says anything bad about MJ we can dismiss it as evil government propaganda.
If it says something good, we'll call it a "credible peer-reviewed study".

Pretty sure though, that the combination of MJ and pain meds hasn't been looked at.
Examining the interaction will be much more rigorous because it is far easier to "blind" the dosing.
