it hasn't rained in my area for 4 or 5 days. But I went back to a couple fields and did find some more active Pans.
Basically, If the field your hunting on has lots of trees and/or tall grass, you don't necessarily need rain to find mushrooms. Most of these types of pastures always have thick fog covering them at night, which provides a perfect environment for fungus.

I have only one field I can go to and its in biking distance but yes I did notice that they do still grow even when it does not rain its just that there is WAY more after a good rain.

My first successful hunt. Don't know for sure what these are as it is my first time, but they look like big cubes to me. Could someone please assist me in id?

They are cubes, man. Congrats. The very light capped one is a beauty.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Is one type of coloring favorable to another?

orange/white caps is basically what you are looking for out there. They are fairly easy to differentiate from other mushrooms that grow on doo doo

No, it's not that one is favorable over another, I prefer cultivating the strains with really light caps over the darker colored ones. It's a personal preference. I just think that the blue bruising looks really cool on the almost all white cubes.

Argh this thread has turned into a Florida rain discussion thread.
Please see the hunting forum rules:
5. Do not make threads or posts discussing or reporting the weather. This includes complaining about the weather, asking if the current weather is "good for shrooms", or how long to wait after rain fall to go hunting. As a general rule of thumb, if it has rained within the last 1-10 days, and the temperatures are correct for the type of mushroom you're looking for, and the time of year is correct then it is very likely that the mushroom you are looking for is growing.

4. Do not ask about current finds in your area. These posts have been flooding the forum for years. If you're curious about if mushrooms are growing in your area, get out there and look! Mushrooms don't read the books. Sometimes they fruit outside of season. There is no set date for any season, only vast generalizations. Your best bet is that if it's close to the season for the mushroom you are looking for and its been raining, you just might find some.
