Weather said it would be cold and wet today so I went for another walk in Belmont Regional Park, but at the southern end this time. It was cold and windy but not wet. I found these, a bit dried up and past their best, on the tops along the edge of the grass path.

More psilocybe semilanceata I think. I'm chuffed. I spent ages looking last autumn and found nothing. Maybe I'll find some subs too. Then I'll be double chuffed.

Anyone help me out with this
Could these be p. Aucklandii, i remember they had a leathery appearance similar to this? this one originally had a black cap, but when i got it home, say an hour after it was picked, it seemed to have developed that white ring. Sorry for the poor pics, had to make do with using my laptop

Those pictures aren't very clear, please get a digital camera.
It looks like you have Psilocybe subaeruginosa.

Yeah sorry about that, im working on finding the usb cable, but the thing with these is unlike most subs ive seen (at least im 99% shure im picking subs) this one came from a patch of others that had black caps, and the color of the one in that picture is far from a browny gold, or even a faint yellow, its a blatant white.

No1. grow potent deadly look alike shrooms(mountain compost is god among food for shrooms) No2. obtain a blue indian ink fountain pen and stab the mushrooms trying to make the blue stains look legit as possible. No3. find a known shroom patch that people pick, then wait till like halfway through season so the people who pick them trust to continue picking them. No3. plant or place your deadly lookalikes in the exact same spot where they have huntd them...they come and pick them muwahaha No4. Check the sunday newspaper for "people die from deadly shrooms"
this is quite an evil theory as i come up with alot of self innocent guilt scams and well this is one of them.obviously i wouldnt do this *ahem* unless it would be called for

There is no possible way that could be called for.
Also seems like a lot of effort, wouldn't it just be easier to poison the mushrooms?
I have seen places here in CA where they spray green weed killer on wood chips, and a patch of Galerina picked up heavy green staining.

I happen to live in Belmont too. There are loads of places, but they're all small, but numerous. I've found all my shrooms this year from the area.
-------------------- ---------------------------------
Some people don't know how lucky they are.
When all the other have to work so hard.
Spending time, searching places near and far.
Lucky people just have shrooms in their backyard.
Chris. lol.®
