Possible Amanita Panthera
    #10317520 - 05/10/09 05:08 PM (5 years, 4 months ago)

So, I live in Washington state, and driving home this morning, I spotted this off in a patch of grass below the trees. I consulted my own Hallucinogenic and Poisonous field guide, and it looks about spot on, but that is coming from a complete amateur perspective.

Any help would be wonderful as to the identification of this beautiful blossoming diety.

That is Amanita pantherina.  I wouldn't recommend eating it but some people like it.

The pantherina seem to be popping up everywhere in Washington right now.

I've recently (2 days ago) found a trail that has sporadically along the side for about a whole mile.

Why would you say that, just the poisoning risk? I've heard a lot about it, I'm a little apprehensive to eat them haha

You ever seen that movie Constantine.  Well they pass into hell several times.  In hell there are melting human bodies, in your tub are melting mushroom bodies.  Your tub had passed into mushroom hell.

Alright, few new pics of that specimen... Strangest thing, I did NOT know mushrooms could grow after being pulled from the ground, but low and behold I open the jar I had this baby in, and voila! This is infact the same mushroom as the pics posted up there, growth from overnight in a jar:

Now, after a few hours in the dehumidifyer... Needs a bit more time as it is still moist:

I just wanted to bump this and hopefully get a bit more feedback on this?

I'm honestly thinking about eating the one cap I have, to observe any effects that may occur

Read here:
http://www.erowid.org/experiences/subs/exp_Amanitas.shtml

Preferably the bad trips to know what your getting into.

There is a dosage page there as well.

Most people are not into eating those they would rather look for Psilocybin mushrooms, but to each there own.

I have read here that you should bake them before eating, I do not know the procedure as I would not eat them, the baking changes the alkaloids. Search and I am sure you will find something about it.
