They are looking heaps dirty but first guess would be leratiomyces ceres. What colour is the spore print? Is there any bluing on the stipes?
I wouldn't be surprised if you found Subs in the same wood chips but I don't think they have come for you yet. There's a prolific amount of the same, this week, along Author St. might be worth another look soon.

I have been reading other posts and the ones in bottom right corner seem to be Rhizomorphs. Can anyone confirm this?

I braved the weather yesterday and found another 20gm of Weraroa NZ. Thinking about going for another hunt today...

Hey there, picked some mushrooms today (in Dunedin) thought I'd check here to get a second opinion on what I've got. All the subaerunginosa's were found in pine woods, while the rest were on a nearby field. Perhaps I'm impatient but none appear to bruise any colour at all; a exciting blue or a worrying black. A strong meat like odor accompanies the red unknown ones in the last photos.
The first lot I believe to be Psilocybe subaeruginosa and were found on a very rotten log. Brown spore print. Slippery slimy cap!

Next up I have some old friends, I was under the impression they're Psilocybe semilanceata but after eating 12 of the same size and feeling nothing, I'm not too sure.

Lastly I found a large patch of these mushrooms. They didn't strike me as something I'd heard about being a Psilocybe but looked like they fit the profile. In case it's not obvious in the photos, they're very orange or red. Very thick stem. Can't seem to get a spore print.

No actives there I don't think Alias.. Looks like you're hunting for the right kinda colour and shape of cap for subs, but check out more finds in this thread for more of an idea of what the stems and gills should look like.
Can anyone clear up for me where to hunt for in Auckland other than woodchips? So far I have the impression that- Subs - Woodchips / Pine forest floor Weraroa - same as subs Aucklandii - Clay soil (in pine forests? in native bush? anywhere?)
Anything I'm missing? Had a big failure of a woodchip hunt yesterday.. mushrooms everywhere but no subs =\

That's a bit of a let down; second unsuccessful hunt and it's quite a drive too. At least I'm learning, I'll be a better forager in no time!
As a follow-up, some had bruised black (not blue or purple - unfortunately) on the stems where they'd been grabbed to be picked.
So now I've got a whole lot of worthless mushrooms to dispose of!

Alias, be careful, you should not eat any mushroom that you are not 100% certain of it's identification, it seems you have eaten 12 specimens of a Mycena species, these mushrooms will have a white spore print and do not resemble Psilocybe semilanceata which will have a purple brown print. Some species in this genus contain toxins, and I think at least one species contains psilocin/psilocybin but not the one you have there, I hope you didn't eat any of the specimens in your first two images, I can't tell for certain but they look like a Galerina species, mushrooms in this genus can be deadly! inski..

Found my first subs of the year in the North Shore.
Ate them shortly after in Mt Eden for a Full Moon drum circle in Takahi Reserve. Was very intense. The season in on!

No worries Even though, to people outside NZ your place description probably wasn't that suggestive, to many people from NZ it would be obvious where you were talking about, I knew exactly the spot! inski.

Thanks for the response inski, have not eaten any of the photographed mushrooms and disposed of them all earlier. Will not pick any more of them.
Bit of a scare with the toxic/deadly Mycena, going to play it a lot more carefully and visit here more regularly. I should be posting sometime later in the week regarding the results of another hunt. Will spend more time hunting for the more hidden ones that have obvious blue staining.
Will have to warn quite a few others who are interested in picking Psilocybe's, or our enthusiasm may lead to some unfortunate hospital visits.

That sucks man, but yeah that happened to me a few times last year. Found the best and biggest patch I've ever seen. It was in a quite well hidden area. Thought I'd just keep watching them grow and someone comes along and rips them all out when they are tiny pins. Not once but twice.
I've learnt my lesson with that patch and will harvest them the second i see them popping up this year...If I can bring myself to do it.

Yeah man, I had a patch of 100 odd pins growing and was gonna leave them for atleast a week so they'd mature. It was such a secret spot to, but then some idiot comes along and takes all the baby pins, grrrrr.
