Have I missed something, or has The Shroomery recently (haven't noticed until today) become infested with popups and spam? What the *beep* is this supposed to mean? I believe you'll lose a lot of users (including me) if this is the way it's supposed to be.
Seriously, am I just being stupid here? Did I miss something?

Are you using kazaa??? That does popups and sounds.
I have not heard of any popups or sounds being used by the shroomery. Nor have I experienced any.

every time i click on any link i get a popup now, and that popup spawns about another 3-4.
how long is this gonna happen for?

This is absolutely rediculous. I opened up the shroomery on a computer that had just been booted up. There are no other applications open so I know this is where it is coming from. A shitload of popups were opened which opened more upon closing them. I found a tiny little window that when closed, opened one or two more then they all stopped. Is this how the shroomery is planning on making some advertising dollars? Pretty low class if you ask me.

One more thing.. I could live with one popup, but installing something that opens up that many windows that are that hard to get rid of is inexcuseable. I have lost a lot of respect for the admins of this site..

Well, it seems that there is a popup thing going on here. Ignore my previous reply about kazaa 
I have not got the popup windows, I am not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing

Good call on the popup killer.. I had actually forgotten that those were out there. I'll have to install that at home.

Eesh, using a popup killer shouldn't be necessary, though. I just want to know if this is how The Shroomery is supposed to be in the future (eg. not a free community. rather a popup infested, commercial, capitalistic community). How much money are we talking about here? Is it really enough to justify sacrificing the great community we have now?
Besides, if it's a pay-per-click thing and everyone uses a popup killer, we're right where we started, aren't we?

I downloaded and ran Ad-Aware to clean my system of spyware and I still get a pop-up, or multi pop-ups, when I open a new page at the shroomery.
Sometmies it's just one window that stays in the taskbar then disappears.
Sometimes it's multiple windows that open up.

Sorry for the scare, I was testing pop-under ads overnight but there have never been any plans to impliment them on the Shroomery. I was curious about the number of impressions we'd register and whether they'd be a feasible means of advertising on another site. Didn't realize so many people would be bothered between 4 and 10 am.
Anyway, they're gone now.

Got the same problem!
Used addaware and cleaned my pc!!!
Now no pop ups at shroomery anymore.
Supposeold Kazaa shit or so.
I had it after a restart too.
