msanchez, I love those pictures from previous hunts, espescially the 1st one on the second row, great caramel colours.

Beginner question, are they all cyans?

I love the caramel look, once they get a bit wet from the rain it really gives them a tasty caramel shine. All of 'em are Subs (Subaeruginosa)

Had my 2nd hunt today, found 3 species of inactives but, well looking at your pictures and everyone else's from this thread and the melbourne 09 thread has given me the urge to hunt again tomorrow.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm a heaps inexperienced hunter so it would be nice if I could go hunting with someone more experienced from Sydney one day... maybe... lol

Come on man you live there and you're not out hunting already? Found a few popping in the mountains, not everywhere but should only get better as it gets colder and wetter.

Found these today:

And check out the blueing on this guy! Wish i brought him home to check him out more, kinda looks like a different species now that i see the pic again. Wsa found growing on his own in the bush on woody litter.

More pics here

oh and BE WARNED:

Deadly Galerinas were popping just a few feet from one of this big patches:

Note they have brownish white stems, no blueing and a slight ring on the upper stem (Subs will NOT have these characteristics). Also they have rust brown spore prints, whereas subs will have purple/brown spore prints.

Please be careful, watch what you pick and ID/Print everything you eat!

I cant believe how similar those Galerinas are compared to subs. I will have to investigate them.

Yeah they are VERY similar...
The stem colour seems to be the dead give away though(no pun intended).

Awesome finds Undergrounder   The Galerinas certainly look similar, easy to mix a few with your subs if you are not careful. Nice piccies, looks like the season is underway!  :shroompick:

Hey fellow nswers! I found these brown beauties on my front lawn whilst mowing.

I'm not sure whether they are two types or the larger ones are just more mature versions of the smaller ones. I am carrying out a spore print atm. The smaller ones have a dark brown dot in the center with light brown surrounding it and are a sort of umbrella shape. The larger ones have a sort of crusty light brown on the cap surrounded by the same sort of brown on the smaller ones. The large ones have light brown squiggles towards the top of the stem, whilst the smaller ones show signs of this I cannot be sure. So any idea guys??

Found a bunch today in the Blue Mountains (thanks for the advice undergrounder!)

First up, the subs:

Some Amanita Muscaria's (I believe?):

And some unidentified ones which stain blue/green - ID anyone?

Also, as a rule of thumb - how many of those little subs should one ingest for a medium strength trip? I haven't done subs for a few years... and I always ate dry weighed amounts..
