 Thinking about joining Americorps...

I'm in college but I don't want to go back in the fall because I'd have to decide on a major which I could potentially and probably regret. Anyways, I want to travel, I want to meet peaceful, caring, and intelligent people and I want to help life.
I'm researching Americorps now but I figured I'd ask the Pub for any experiences, opinions or info on Americorps. I really know next to nothing about it but I plan to spend the afternoon looking it up.
So yeah, please, tell me what you guys know or think about Americorps...

A good friend of mine just started working for them. As far as I know, he's very happy with it and likes it a lot.

Do it. Most people enjoy it. But can't you find a program that correlates with your college?
I'm lookin to join a program that combines college and rural education.

I don't want to continue with my college education at the moment, because I am a sophomore and if I go back next year I will have to declare for a major, which I am not ready to do yet.
I'm about to research it more, and just the idea of getting paid to visit somewhere I want to and help people out is very tantalizing.

The name does not stand out or throw up any red flags for me........I have not heard much ,so they are probably actually helping people.

why not try to travel through ur college, study abroad? What happens to your credits if u jump halfway? If i was in your place i would finish 4yr first expecially if u have financial assistance. Are you at a comm college or uni? if comm co. then leaving wouldnt be so bad but a big school might be hard to get back into...
