Hamilton is so good for growing shrooms ...our city is in a giant concave terrain kinda shaped like a volcano..we can get mist and rain at the same time aparantly no other citys have that...that just pumps up the shrooms hearty!

Yes, Auckland is the same!
I don't want to burst your placebo affect but Hygrocybe conica contains no psychoactive compounds!

After that rain this morning I thought I'd go for a wander in Wilton and Karori (in Wellington).
I found these:
on woodchip, spore print is printing.
They were a much lighter yellow color, but they've been in my pocket for a while. There is a marked blue-gray tint on the stems.
The cap on the largest one is about 1.5 cm diameter.
I picked 15 or so. I left the most of them to see what they look like in a couple of days.
I'm thinking they might be P. subaeruginosa though they seem a bit small.
What do you chaps think?

Nice finds all 
I have a bunch of P. subaeruginosa growing in my back yard..
Tho there very small atm and alot seem to getting eaten by bugs before they ripen.

Only thing I've found so far is Amanitas. They're everywhere, but not what I'm looking for. Hopefully ChCh might have more variety - I 'm moving there this weekend...

You shouldn't destroy public patches. Instead use spore prints or stem butts to start new patches in your yard.
Go back to where the patch was and put down a lot of fresh new wood chips so the patch comes back.

if i dont take the local shroom patches someone else will as there are many school kids around here and they always take the pins..(maybe the shroom death teqnique could come in handy?ha jokes.

None showing up here yet in Nelson (Dam you good weather), been looking all over the place. Also would I've been looking in pine forest mainly, would it be worthwhile to look around in native forest? Cheers & Happy hunting.

Alright so I went for a huge hunt yesterday.
Covered 5 spots in about 7 hours.
The first 4 I found nothing.. I was stunned and felt uninspired :/
But I kept on moving to the last spot I had in mind (in the area of the city I was in anyway) And.. God be told I found a patch
about 20-25 caps of what Im sure is P's subaeruginosa and some other strand which I am yet to fully Identify.

Hey bro - given its your patch you have every opportunity to tend to it like you would a plant; try tobacco spray. Just boil up a bunch of tobacco in a pot of water, let it soak for ages, thedn chuck it in a spray bottle. When i had a local street patch i used to takecare of it and even the slugs seemed to avoid the tobacco spray.

Also interesting! I noticed it a couple of times.. it may have been early in the season, where I would take an average dose and the effect been very mild at times.

Man I was eyeing up this patch in devonport, waited a whole week till they got nice and big then I went to pick them but someone had gone there just a few hours earlier and picked it clean! Also went to the spot in belmont and that had been raided. I need to find some more spots, more and more people keep on finding out about the really good ones.

Also what's the best way to create more mushroom patches? I just grabbed some woodchips that had that white stuff on them and put them in another area that was nice and moist.

I find this pretty accurate for me. My first trip this season was on 1g of dry first flush P.Sub pins. I boiled up a tea only enough for one quick cup. I was going for lvl 3 to warm into the season but the young flush had me well into lvl 4. My next trip was 1.5g and was a cruisy lvl 3. I tried the coffee recipe and after the boil just plungered the whole brew. I'm not into eatting the silt.
Mine go cracker dry in my hotwater cupboard over night. I've had at least 4 flushes so far and no shortage of woodchips to keep spreading the love around. I've more than harvested my years' supply. Was so wrapped to get out hunting this season too. Almost gutted that all I have to do is wander out the yard in my socks and a pair of scissors.
Use the Sub setting for Weraroa novaezelandiae as well.
P.S. You guys are bringing tears to my eyes with all the torn out mycelium. That's the mushies HOME! Pick the fruit not the branch.

Hey guys... New to hunting this season, havent found anything in Hamilton down near the river, or in some native bush out near Raglan...
Planning to mission it to napier one weekend soon, anyone know if the pine plantations on the napier taupo road are decent for Subs or other active species? Its a big general area but want to know if im on the right track
