Smiley semantics: a thought experiment or a lesson about other things

If I always used the incorrect smileys for my points, when would other people catch on and begin using the incorrect ones? When would the meaning change?

Certain people have more efficacy in doing this than others. Are you one of the cool kids?

Smileys aren't my thing. I missed the cut off/I'm too old so my brain will not be able to adapt to fluency.

Ive asked people why they use certain ones in certain places and they tend to get offended if theyre using them in a malicious manner. I think they can be used as just another medium for people to act out, but on the other hand not all of them can be used in that manner so it's whatever.

Words have different connotations and so do emoticons. (Smileys is such a suck-ass word)
In certain forums means I like you. It's context.

My body I will give to pleasures, to diversions that I’ve dreamed of, to the most daring erotic desires, to the lustful impulses of my blood, without any fear at all, for whenever I will— and I will have the will, strengthened as I’ll be with contemplation and study— at the crucial moments I’ll recover my spirit as was before: ascetic.”
