More Georgia Morels + weird fungi ID.
    #10138078 - 04/09/09 05:48 PM (14 years, 11 months ago)

Went on another morel hunt since I saw Weiliiiii had found some recently so I went to the place I found the others. I was quite surprised at the size of a couple of them.

Also this is sort of an ID request within a edibles post - found some odd little mushrooms growing on a log (pictures below). That's about all the information I have on them, but they look pretty unique and easily identifiable from looks alone. I didn't pick them.

Am I doing it right??

Clarke County, about an hour northeast of Atlanta.

Yea looks great.  If the pic was a bit clearer I would be able to make keys for your house and car.

What kind of trees were the morels under?

Those are Cop Fungi, looks like a Peziza species, such as P. repanda.

I didn't check exactly what tree type, definitely hardwoods only. Sweetgum were around, and a few tulip poplar. I'm taking a friend back there this weekend and he is a landscape major so he will be able to 100% ID the trees in the area.

Also: omg I didn't even notice my keys in there  lucky for me the pic is slightly blurred. Don't stalk me alan! (unless youre coming to my house to help find and ID fungi)
