I can understand liking a team because they were winning. Shit, I used to like the Vikings because when my brother had Madden '94 or whatever they had a black QB (Warren Moon.) I grew up and realized I didn't have a reason to like them though so I let it go. If it would have developed into a real fandom I would have had no problem admitting why.
I just hate when people act like it has nothing to do with them winning when they were kids.
Am I missing something? I added that it makes sense that kids are attracted to a winner and then stick with them as they age? What does being older have to do with anything?

I meant that's why you wouldn't be fans of teams that kids my age are fans of, especially the Bulls.

Nah, I was a HUGE Bulls fan, from back when MJ was a "ball hog" and would never win anything I was there when they sucked, but that made the titles that much sweeter. I live in Denver now, and I find it more and more difficult to stick with my childhood teams.

Horrible start for the Tribe, will be interesting to see how they do in their next couple of series. Carmona got shelled, Pavano is pitching tomorrow and I would find it very amusing if he starts over 30 games this year mostly injury free. There would be a sense of justice in the world if that were to occur, he's still my favorite Yankees acquisition of years past.

Yeah neither pitchers have impressed me. The bullpen has been shaky. The bats arent firing at the right times. A complete mess
Opening on the road in Texas kind of blows but still very winnable games. Im sure they will get in a groove soon

There is a relief pitcher for the San Francisco Giants whose first name is Merkin. That is awesome. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7394/career;_ylt=AheEVdtY9yIwzf5X4VB3F9.FCLcF

After a little fruitless googling I have to ask, what does Merkin mean?

Not true. I fail at spelling and reading comprehension, as you would too if you had to drop out of Jr High to support yourself since your dad abandoned you at birth and your mom was a hillbilly junkie.
I typed in "Merklin".

President Merkin Muffley in Doctor Strangelove. The meaning of that has always escaped me until now. I also had to hear those jokes in Family Guy without getting it. I hope Merkin Valdez does really well and his name goes forth into public consciousness. I would like to see fans at games help him to be aware of the meaning of his name.
