I think i'm going to do 5 24kg TGUs/side, and some floor presses with the 16kg

Well, today was my first variety day and i am FUCKING SORE from those snatches yesterday :mad2:  I wanted to cut my warmup short a set or two... but forced myself to do everything properly.  Grrrrr I had a long ass day at work.  My dumb ass decided to smoke some Spice Diamond before I left - needless to say I had a headache by 10am and was groggy by 11.  The rest of the afternoon didn't improve.  Anyways, here's today:

3/26/09 ROP Day.4  (Variety)

Warmup:
-Halos 16kg 3x20
-Squats 24kg 3x12

TGUs:
-3 reps per side (i was VERY sore, decided to cut back from the 5 I originally planned to do)

Leg-Over Floor Press (http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/kettlebells.php?Name=Leg-Over+Floor+Press)
-2 x (1,2,3)

Cool Down:
-Stretchessssss

All in all a pretty good day - looking forward to more C&Ps tomorrow on my Medium day.

Horray for the ROP!

I'm still trying to get a job... I can't use real drugs :frown:  Soon though!  I got two interviews coming up for my top 2 desirable jobs.  I'm going to land them both - but I'm going to take hte one up in DC :omgawesome:

My left nut hurts.  Its been on/off all day with a very low, dull, pulsating pain.  :wtf:

Well it needs to stop happening, shit is annoying and i'm a hypocondriac.  You got your bell yet?  You're about to be soooo addicted, it's impossible not to be.

I fucking love these things.

We caught a genuine blizzard today. I'm sure I will be hooked. I started back up with my perfect push ups yesterday and I am wrecked. In a good way.

Got your KB yet whattheheck?   i'm going to continue to pester you until I log on and see a post about how you just finished your first swing session and how the manmakers killed you.

Anyways, today was my Medium day -  but at the end of my second ladder I realized I'd been doing (1,2,3) instead of (1,2) like I was supposed to.  So i finished up the last ladder like I was supposed to - 'meh.  Swings were pretty good.  I did 15/min (75% of my max, which is 20/min using the 30:30) for 5min.  Not vigorous, but still strenuous since it was with the 24kg.

I'm headed back to Norfolk for the weekend, and I've got a jam-packed schedule.  I think I'm goign to have to skip tomorrow's variety day - I have meetings & appointments from 11am through the end of the elite 8 games.  I don't feel too bad about it since I did extra work today.  I'll start back up on monday with my Heavy day.

Here's today's results:

3/27/09

Warmup:
-Halos 16kg 3x20
-Squats 24kg 3x12

Presses:
-C&P 3x(1,2,3) 1x(1,2)

Pulls:
-Swings 24kg, 75 in 5min.  (15/min 30:30)

Cooldown:
-Stretches

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm love it.

I went and looked at them a few minutes ago to test them out. These will work just fine

Not that I didn't believe you, but I;m one of those "seeing is believing guys". I'm going to do some odd jobs over the weekend to get my money up, and then I'm going to get a 20 for me, a 15 for the wife, and one of those do-dads that hooks to your door to do chinups on. My father in law has one and I guess it works great.

I figure the KB, the perfect pushup and the chin up machine will be enough to fulfill all my desires, along with some naked warrior action.

I use a 30 pounder as my light bell.  Unless you are a midget don't get such a small bell.

I don't see that you will get any benefit from such a light bell...even if you are a small person. They aren't magic. You have to challenge yourself. I am just warning you to not waste your money. If you can't buy a 35lb for yourself don't waste the cash. Wait until you can get the appropriate tool.

Seriously? I was doing swings and some snatches with the 20, and even though it won't take too long (a month maybe) for me to work out of it, the wife can move into it as she needs to start at the 15.

She has NO physical training for the past 10 years other than being married to my butt and having and raising 4 children. We're both lightly built, and I am concerned about form. I'd rather go lighter, with perfect form to develop good habits, and hit it HARD than wear out.

I hear what you all are saying though. I'm going to pay cash, and if we figure out the first couple of weeks that they're too light, we'll keep the box and all the wraps and I'm sure Dicks will take them back.

Thanks for the heads up guys.

Whattheheck, while I understand where you're coming from - I really don't think you should go anything lighter than the 16kg.  I started with it, and I had ZERO MUSCLES.  I don't think you quite understand the extent to which I could not lift ANYTHING.  Anything lighter than the 16kg and you'll be wasting time (in my opinion).

Fo' sho' start with the 16kg.  [al gore] I'm super serial [/al gore]

I could go with a 25LB, but then my wife will have nothing to step up into. I think Im going to have to trust you guys and go with it.

I got our KB's today!! :omgawesome:

We went ahead with the 15 and 20. I talked to the dude at Dicks and he said that we have 90 days to return or exchange them for whatever reason. I told him that the only reason would be that we need heavier weights than what we were buying, and he said whatever, as long as we have the receipt. So if they're too light, we'll take them back.

We're going to have our first workout here in a few. The wife is nervous

Most people that buy those light bells discard the whole notion of using them very shortly, because they get zero result. If ones muscles and metabolism are not challenged there is no adaptation. The 20 will probably work for your wife though.

That's the thing, I bring mad intensity to anything athletic, so I won't have to worry about pushing myself. If I had a dollar for every time I've puked during a workout or practice :puke:

And again, if they do turn out to be too light, I'll take them back for an exchange.

Lol...intensity with 20 pounds won't cut it for any size full grown man. I been using these things for a while now....I know what will work. Using it will be way too easy. The adaptation from it's use will be too small to make a real world practical difference. Now you didn't totally waste your money...the 20 is a keeper for the female.

I don't get it. There's no way on earth that I could do halos with any more than a 25LB safely at this point, and the next step up was to a 45LB.

I did swings for about 5 minutes and my HR was well up and I wasn't even pushing it.

I can imagine that it won't take me long until I push through to heavier weights, but brute strength is NOT my thing. On the other hand, I could dunk in 8th grade, have ran several sub 5 minute miles (on crappy tracks) and have a 28 inch waist so it's all good.

I'm also a fairly strict vegetarian, I'll eat sushi from time to time, and I am a believer and disciple of the CR diet.

I'll accept if these are too light for YOU, but I am WELL versed in exercise theory, nutrition, and supplementation all the way up to anabolic steroid use, and I know my body.

I could lift 3 hours a day and not be as big as you guys. Of course, I can also hike the Rocky Mountains on the 10th+ day of a fast, as I just did, and leave people in the dust.

We're not all built the same.
