whattheheck - shipping is usually ~$45.  My KB arrived in 2 days via fedex.  Tiny ass box weighed a fucking ton.  You going to start with the 16kg?

Have any of you looked at The Certified Kettlebell-Functional Movement Specialist (CK-FMS) Home Study Course?

Hey guys, from the looks of it, I can get one of these tomorrow, what do you think? I want to support DD, but if I can save $25.00 and get on this sooner, I;d like to. Of course if it sucks, it will go right back.

Thoughts??

I have that brand.  Works just fine.  THe rubber covering is fucking gay - i cut mine off, but i suppose it protects your house from the str8 iron.

Save money & get it tomorrow - its a clear choice.  You won't be disappointed.  the 35kg has a green cover, much less immasculating

I played with my bell today. Fuck it felt heavy and it's a tiny one.

Maybe I can creep up on it.

You can definitely creep up on it.  Shit, if i can make any progress with the kb, then anyone can.  I've never had a muscle in my entire life.  ANY muscles, not a single one.

Except my tongue - my X can attest to that :omgawesome:

Have you guys checked out The Certified Kettlebell-Functional Movement Specialist (CK-FMS) Home Study Course on DD?

I've spent a lot of my life in the gym. But this last year I leaned way down and quit doing power work due to some back issues. I seem to be much better now but I've mostly lost interest. I still work out on cardio for at least an hour four days a week.

So Ice, are you, or have you been into KB'ing? I know you said you took a break from power work, do you mean the KB's too?

whattheheck, i haven't heard of that course - but what I've gathered from the other forum is:  Go RKC or Go Home (although that site is an RKC product, so its clearly going to be biased.

 off to work!  my Light day is today, i'll post up my workout later.

I have one but haven't really used it much yet. I'm trying to get something modest going right now. We will see. I'm much more interested in Qi Gong and Tai Chi and related relaxation practices right now. I trained in and taught Non Classical Wing Chun for many years and now that I'm older am headed into the internal styles which is the traditional path for someone my age. So pure power work no longer holds my great interest. I used to be quite strong. Had I known of KBs twenty five years ago I would have been all over it.

And Ice, I'm going to check that stuff out that you mentioned. I'm going to start Yoga myself.

I need to spend some time checking that site out. For nearly $600.00 though, it better bring the thunder.

maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan snatches fucking suck.  Well, they don't suck, in fact - they're the polar opposite.  They're so great, that i fucking hate them.

3/25/09 (Light Day)

Warmup:
-Halos (16kg) 3x20
-Squats (24kg) 3x12

Presses:
-C&P 3x(1)

Pulls:
-Snatch 5x7/arm in 5min

Cooldown:
-stretchessssss

Well, I definitely see why Pavel put snatches on your light day - there's no way i'd be able to do ANY if it were on hard/medium.  I started to figure 'em out a little better about halfway through the workout - learning how to drive it up with your hips takes a little gettin used to... the whole first set I was throwing it up with my shoulder & arm ---- definitely not the right thing to do.

I'm looking forward to my RKC session next weekend.

Keep it up man, I imagine I'm going to be going back to the start of this thread once I actually get to work!

Yeah, this thread has been great.  Hue & Sunflower answering all my questions was a Godsend.  At least now you have clear evidence that if you stick to Pavel's guide in ETK - you WILL get results.

I hate to admit it, but i can't help but flex in the mirror while I wait for my shower to get hot :shame:

Oh I can't wait. I'm also going to build a chin up contraption for the garage so I can do the ab workout that he suggests. It's been a long road, but I  know that this is going to be where I end up, along with some Yoga and maybe Tai Chi for the rest of my life.

If I wasn't getting Shanghied to a hockey game, I'd be out getting one right now.

I think dips are one awesome exercise. They seem to work a lot of the body at once and they are really fun to crank out.

Is saying that kettlebell  heresy.

Nope, it's a completely valid statement.  I dont think Pavel would hold it against you, and he's the KettlebellKing
