Eden Organic has 22 grams of fibre/100g, the highest Ive seen.  Some other brands have had some laxative effect (maybe I didn't rinse enough) but this one had none.  Also Bob's Mill (or something I cant remember) brand was good too.

"A human being is part of the whole, called by us 'Universe'; a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest -- a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness.

This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and affection for a few persons nearest us.

Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty.

Nobody is able to achieve this completely but striving for such achievement is, in itself, a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security."

Wooooooot, I'm EXTREMELY excited to start the ROP tomorrow.  I've been practicing my C&P and Snatch over the last two days, and I re-read the ROP, C&P, and Snatch sections of ETK last night.

I'M FUCKIN' PSYCHED.

Raw foods are good, but if you wanted to build muscle and strength you need a protein source that is solid. Kettlebell guru Mike Mahler is a vegan and he makes it work.
He is certainly no runt.

This article tells how he does it.

Ahhhh, I didn't know you two were related - thats clever!

You refer to Icelander I assume as you know Sunflower is my wife. I am related to Ice as well.. On that trip to Oregon I met Ice for the first time in my life. During that trip he told me that he decided that I would be his brother. I agreed to the idea, and we have been related ever since. You should also be aware that Sunflower lost as much weight as I did...it is possible she lost even more poundage. She gives herself no credit, but without her support and encouragement it would not have happened to me. It was also rendered possible by Icelanders guidance and unconditional acceptance.

Sunflower is very awesome and need not be so shy about it IMO. She's really cool.:sun:

It's Officially R.O.P. Time

Well, today marks day 1 of the R.O.P.  I decided to go along with Pavel's advice and add pullups into my C&P ladders - I have a bodyweight tower, might as well use it.

As far as the "pull" part of the R.O.P. goes - I've decided to stray from Pavel's "Dice" routine.  I'm a creature of habit, and I need a more rigid workout structure.  So I've decided to go with this (tell me if its a bad idea):  Instead of rolling the dice, I'm going to start out at a set 5min of Pulls (whatever they may be on that particular day).

For example, today was my hard day - and I did 5 minutes of max-effort swings (20/minute).  On my light day, i'll do 55% of that (11/minute), and on my medium day  - 75% (15/min).  Snatches will work the same way, but with different numbers - obviously.  As time progresses I'll be extending the time period out from 5min.

What do you think of this structure?

Anyways, here's todays workout:

3/23/09  R.O.P. Day 1  (Heavy Day)

Warmup:
-16kg Halos 3x20
-24kg Squats 3x12

Presses:
-3x(1,2,3) with pullups

Pulls:
-(24kg) 100 swings in 5min

Cooldown:
-Strecthes

Hue & Sunflower:  On the C&P, Pavel says to "bring the weight down across your body using your obliques & lats".  I understand what he means by this, and I can practice it (and feel it) with no weight... but today during my workout I simply could not seem to utilize the Lat/obliques on the way down.  I felt like I was simply reverse-pushing the weight on its way down.  It's probably because I'm not strong enough to "handle" the weight yet, but I figuerd i'd see if you guys had any suggestions anyways.  I'll probably post the same questions (this one, and the one about the change in the structure) on DD later tonight.

 to the start of another grueling routine

Don't vary ROP. Do it as written. If I recall he mentioned rolling the dice for swings. My solution was I always rolled a 12. I suggest adding the pullups later. Early on they will lower your strength for the clean and press and get in the way. Wait until you have done the full 5 ladder of 5 rungs with the 16kg and are starting on the 53 to add pullups. The format is 2 days presses and swings and 1 day presses and snatches. Then there are 2 variety days of whatever you want.

Nice, thanks for the tips Hue.  Got any ideas for the down-pull on the press?

Just let the bell descend in a moderately slow and measured way. Pavel describes it as a pull, but you are actually just controlling the gravitational pull a bit with the lat engaged.

One really good idea...when you move to the 53lb start with the program minimum again for about 3 weeks before ROP with it.

Oh yeah, i plan on going back and doing the PM again every time I move up a bell size.  Since I'll still be swinging the 24kg during my 16kgROP, I don't anticipate it taking very long to really pump up the swing numbers once I jump up to the 24kgPM

Dragon Door just dropped their prices ...a lot...so check them out. Their bells are very affordable now. They are excellent quality.

I think I'll go with a lighter weight and focus on form and getting back into the swing of things, I've had about a month off, and then my wife can use it.

Great prices though. Glad to see some businesses recognize the economic situation.

Now I want to order a set!

Daaaaamn they sure did drop their prices.  That's quite a bit of difference.  I wonder how long they're going to stay cheap... I might get my 32kg WAAAAAAAY in advance, to take advantage of the price cut
