Nice, thanks for the pics! I had a look yesterday, some nice specimens but things are definitely not in full swing anymore, even after all that rain. Definitely worth the walk though.
Saw evidence of people in a place that I thought only I knew about, fresh cigarette butts and an empty bourbon can. The butts were still dry so so I reckon they were there a few hours before me. Please people, take your rubbish home - it gives all mushroom pickers a bad rep and good reason for cops to target the area....
Always depresses me to see the rubbish...

Just wondering what these ones are, found them in the kalamunda hills, the small ones show some blue bruising after a bit. Big ones are a bit uncertain.

Would need more info on the first one (at least a gill shot) to identify it. The second is a Laccaria species. Neither are active.

Sorry to bump an old thread but the top pics in the original post are the shrooms Ive been picking during autumn and it's now 8 days in to spring. Is there a rule of thumb when these babies start popping up? Say after the last frost or something along those lines.
Last time I tripped it fucked me good [i posted here but still have no answer]and I wound up in hospital. I think i'll use a moderation approach from now on. Ive been meditating regularly ever since my bad experience however nothing comes close to finding insights into you own psyche via shrooms. Bit nervous though.

A southern adventure [Re: Stratman]

We woke up at 5, struggling out of bed by ten past, and got into the car. First stop, Maccas for two Macdonalds birthday McMuffins to provide us with enough energy for the hike.
We travel down the freeway past Mandurah getting exited, not knowing what to expect.
When we arrive at the place we scouted on Google maps we find that logging has already started and half the plantation was gone. We started to leave and it has been spotted, the first prize for the day, but it's not of the correct species. We park the car and get out to hunt. After half an hour we have 8 specimens and after determining that they are all not what we are searching for we leave.
We needed fuel so we went to Balingup, and decide to run the gauntlet and drive down the notorious 'Jayes road' we soon discover why so many people are hassled by the police there and decide to do a drop and drive.
I hop out of the car and it speeds off, I'm into the bush- eyes to the ground, searching for my prize, it's after 10 minutes and I'm coming up to a farm fence that I spot the first one. It's too late in the day. It's too dry and it's the wrong species, so I collect a few and get picked up. My partner has found another location, so we head there.
Once at the site we spot two elderly people walking, and in the distance we hear trucks and the sound of machinery clearing the plantation nearby. I hop out, looking around and head towards the creek line, I spot an old campsite and decide to look around... I found an upturned van that had been burnt, this is why police and the locals don't like the hunters being here.
I find a field of specimens and take a few photos of them and the van. They aren't the right type but I enjoy taking the photos and seeing so much greenery.
We jump in the car and decide it's time to get going, we know the site and that we will come earlier in the season next time.
It was a fun little southern adventure and we learnt heaps about the area, and where to look.
On the drive back to Perth we see police getting sneaky and have set up a radar in a 500m stretch of 80km/hr on the freeway.

Getting veeeerry close my friend. Seriously going nuts over here on the east side, over waiting!
I'd say go for a suss, got nothing to lose. How many days has it rained consecutively?

Basically no chance man, sorry. You can fruit them very happily outdoors though with lots of watering.
