 Question about fresh mushrooms

So I purchased an eighth of fresh mushrooms last saturday. I cant do them until this saturday so Ive been storing them in my fridge in a brown paper bag. They were originally white but have turned purple (which i heard is caused from general bruising) and are now starting to turn yellow. They are also beginning to smell odd. So far I have not seen any black but I wanted to know if the yellow is a sign of rotting? Thanks.

an eighth of fresh mushrooms? an eighth ounce? You know thats equivalent to about 1/80th of an ounce dry, which is how mushrooms are usually dosed?
You would probably need at least a half ounce of fresh mushrooms to even feel any effects.
Or did the person you bought them from say 'this is an eighth' and mean its actually 35 wet grams?
You should dry them. Just put them in front of a blowing fan for a day. That probably wont dry them fully, but if you stick those 90% dry mushrooms in the fridge theyll certainly last till saturday.
Your mushrooms arent a lost cause yet - yellow is probably just them aging. If anything turns gooey or some really funny colors - toss them.

Thank you for the advice. I'm not specifically sure. My friend got them for me but she told me the guy said that they were potent enough for two people to trip off of and that drying them out would reduce the potency. I think I am going to dry them out anyways just to err on the side of caution.

I would dry right away not much potency is lost....you probably lost some potency by trying to keep them in the fridge for a week oxidization....

make a tea, with fresh its easy and yummy, preserves then for a month or so

? I made tea once and only ended up drinking half of it. A week later I opened the jar I had it in and it hissed like a 2liter of soda. You couldnt have paid me enough to drink that - theres no way that shit stays good for a month.

So if I make tea I should boil water and mix the mushrooms with some sugar the once the water cools add a tea bag? And the tea will last for a decent while?
