Can anyone ID these wild mushrooms?
    #9941918 - 03/09/09 07:54 PM (15 years, 23 days ago)

Found in a eucalyptus forest (Australia) after light rains.

I guess its some kind of Sullius. I know its a pretty crappy find, Im just interested in getting an exact ID if possible.

Read the link kergan posted then post the relevant info, that way we can possibly get closer to an accurate identification!

I appreciate why forums have FAQs, rules etc, but I have a knee-jerk reaction against forum-rules/do-a-search nazis. It's all just for fun, and in this case is mostly superfluous anyway, for example:

Habitat: as in first post

Gills: as in photo

Stem: as in photo

Cap: as in photo. For reference, the cap is roughly 4cm diameter.

Spore print color: as in photo

Bruising: No color change was observed.

Location: as in first post

Thats cool, you can have your opinion!
The reason for the guidelines is so that the specimens can be correctly identified, it could be the difference between life and death in some cases!
Keep it up and post as many pics of your finds as possible with as much information as you can manage and someone will identify them correctly!

Hmmm...the cap of the Bolete reminds me of B. tomentosus or subtomentosus...Check this out http://www.mushroomexpert.com/boletus_subtomentosus.html

I think the stalk may also be a match with that reticulation...[I just noticed that B. subment. isn't supposed to have true reticulation, but the specimen reminds me of the "tomentose" boletes nonetheless]

Did the cap have a fuzzy/velvety feel?

The reticulations on the stipe are what made me say a Boletus species, other than that I don't know what species!
