Even if it's unlikely that you see combat, you're still giving the government the authority to put you in the front lines if they so choose.

The US military is not the only reason we "Get to talk smack" Talking smack is actually protected in our constitution. The only reason the military exists is that there is a perceived threat to our way of life. IMO the threat is imaginary at best. The real threat to our way of life is our government that throws it's policing power all over the world and expects people to lay down and accept our idea of how things should work, or the multi billion dollar drug war that takes money out of our fat comfy pockets and incarcerates millions of non violent offenders every year. Get fucking real, the military/police/consumer culture is not here to help us, it is a system of control that keeps you fat, stupid, angry, and always wanting more.
