Anyone else think we should just stick a fork in this thing and call it done?
I think we have a good member base now.....not to mention there is so much information on here that anyone new just rehashes it from 3 years ago......makes a double post.......opens an old thread......asks the same question a different way.......talks about something that was already proved or disproved.....
I mean honestly has ANYONE read a members post that has registered in the last 6 months and been impressed with anything they've read? I mean how many ignorant immature high school kids are we gonna let on this site to talk about innane nothing, before it's not even worth logging on anymore?
It will honestly get to the point where there is so much innaccurate information, so many people responding to posts they are incorrect about, so many immature people who have nothing useful to say and just make a topic seem stupid.....leaving the op frustrated he even tried posting.
I joined this site for information.......then once highly informed regarding whats on this site, starting posting.....bullshitting with members......and asking mostly reasonable questions........
Every new post I see from a new member now is " Goddamn dude, I tripped so hard.....yadda yadda yadda ".
Thats great.....you trip......now that we have crossed that hump.......

It needs new members to keep it alive, new members to click the sponsors, new members to buy from affiliates, new members=money for the shroomery.

Agreed!
So people should be able to use the site for information......for products.....pictures.....and a reference for anything else their little heart desires.....pay the sponsors when they need something......and leave
Then they'd get everything they need, and they wouldn't bury all the useful info, with things that have already been gone over countless times.

I noticed the other day that I've been registered here for almost 6 years.. for free..
6 years of using their servers, 6 years of good company, 6 years of a shitload of info and the list goes on. Free. Just doesn't seem right.

Maybe a very informative test before hand.
One that would require you to have to have read at least 50% of the info on the site.
I realize everyone needs paid.

Meh I dunno. We've had stupid noobs registering for as long as I've been here, asking the same stupid questions for 10 years. Only major difference I see, is that its a lot more quantity. I don't see how we could just stop it.. And yeah, there have been a few noobs in the past 6 months or so I would say are quality members..

I just registered and I think I am a worthy addition to the community. How could you decipher between genuinely knowledgable and insightful people from the rest?

I'm seeing less and less useful vets.
More and more OTD style vets, with nothing useful to add but their 2 cents. ( not trying to say this is all bad, but there needs to be more balance to the situation IMO )
MORE MORE AND MORE newbs, that ask the same questions that would not make anyones life 2 shits of a difference if they knew the answer too.
I'm seeing less and less UTFSE posts....and more and more dumbass newbs try to answer a dumbass question post.....
The threads that get brought up from years ago are fucking inane stupid highschool posts about munchies, visuals, and trails......when the hells is the last time I've seen the thumbprint thread rehashed? The crystal to blotter thread? I mean the useful side of this site is dying out to the mass numbers of sheer ignorance like everything else.....and if you can't see that you are lying to yourself.
IMO, the few vets that frequent the boards with useful info, are not going to be able to put a dent in the ongoing number of ridiculously pointless posts, that will continue to grow.
I mean there's alwasy gonna be a coaster or an uncle luke........but the thing is, now there is more fucking dumbasses supporting people like uncle luke and coaster, and that is not what this site is about.

Sure I know there alot of idiots out there. But there are useful people out there too.
I just got turned on to the Shroomery. One goal of mine is to encourage political activism. What I really like is having the ability to offer people experience, strength, and hope.
I am just wondering about the method that you would take to go about filtering new members.

Perhaps a mandatory moderator term in the whatevertheforumsatthetoparecalled is in order for all members over a certain time (say 5 years)?
Or an FAQ based exam to be taken by new members before the ability to post is unlocked?

Sometimes it is annoying to see the posts you speak of; makes me want to flame...but I just go into another part of the forum like the sports, money, arcade, or just a whole different website(s).
If it really bothers you to your core though you might want to step away from the computer.

Yea, I think the search engine is pretty solid. I can usually find information on whatever I want without trouble. Reading that "Advanced search tips" thing is crucial though. Maybe that should be made to stand out a bit more.

Before I made my first post I was on here for 2 months reading around and seeing everything in the cultivation and security forums. Before I registered I already had a good feel for the PF tek and how the cultivation process works, and now i use this site for my drug war news...
I wonder how many others do their reading before posting; i see quite a few posts where the people obviously haven't read much at all.
