g2g shooting blanks?

hey
I did a g2g with oyster spawn and a dozen or so jars of rye berries. the jars looked great. no contam. after about three weeks I made up bags with wheat straw substrate and used a hefty amount of the spawn but after two weeks some of the bags were dead.
though a beginner still Ive had a good amount of success in the past with g2g spawn and straw substrate. a couple of the bags are producing well. but as I said the others looked like my g2g were shooting blanks.
what could have been wrong? The spawn seemed a bit dry in a few jars. could that be it? Im just trying to avoid the problem if I can figure what it is.
thanks HCK

what was your pasteurization method? Do the non colonized bags have a smell?

Show photos and try to give as much details as you can regarding your methods, moisture, temp, etc. Just saying some spawn died doesn't give enough hints to say how it happened.

The bleach bath method for straw requires a very high spawn rate and very clean procedure with gloves,etc.. so more spawn and sterility will make it work. Are you doing blue, king oysters?

Adaptation never creates a new species or trait, but rather the new species/trait always existed within the parent DNA until circumstances allowed it to be activated. For instance, every wolf has the DNA for poodles, but that DNA would never be revealed without man selectively breeding for it.

Bleach kills mycelium. Whoever came up with this method should take a bleach bath himself, IMHO.
For a beginner with straw there is no better method then classical pasteurisation. It can be done with regular kitchen stuff plus a thermometer. very easy, and very much repeatable.

white and elm.
though i can appreciate denger's comment about the bleach method, I've had pretty good luck with it in the past.
yes, I did use alot of spawn. It has to be the spawn.
i keep a seed warmer in a covered plastic tub with my g2g jars of rye for a week or so when I first make them up. maybe the temp got too high for them?
