PF Tek question: tape?

I apologize if this has been discussed before, but I was unable to find a satisfactory answer via searching.
What type of tape should be used to cover the 4 holes in the jar lids when following the PF Tek? I've heard of people using electrical tape, professional grade masking tape (as outlined in the original PF Tek), and medical micropore tape.
I understand that the dry vermiculite layer is sufficient to keep out airborne contaminations, so that's not the purpose of the tape. I also understand that allowing gas exchange during the later parts of the colonization phase is preferable, and is best achieved by having breathable tape or no tape at all. But I've also read that CO2 buildup during the first week or two of colonization is a good thing and speeds up the process. If that's true, it sounds to me like it might be beneficial to use electrical tape for the first 1-2 weeks until the jars have reached about 50% colonization, and remove it afterward, letting in fresh air.
I'm assuming that masking tape and micropore tape are both breathable, whereas electrical tape is not.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts/opinions, this forum has already proved to be an invaluable tool for this exciting hobby

I never use tape, just foil over the jar to keep the moisture out.
