Please help me with my tax return...Oregonians

i always have problems when i do my taxes.

this is the info..

im over 18, dont own a house, cant claim anything special, not married, not disabled, no children. i claim 1 when i get a job, myself.

i made a total of $31102.87 in 2008. i paid $3566.16 in federal income tax. i paid $1943.99 in state income tax.

according to my work, ill be getting back 641.16 from the federal government. does that sound about right?

according to my work, ill be paying back $109 to the state of oregon. does that sound right?

usually i get a correction paper and a check from the state after doing my taxes.

why would i find federal taxes easy but oregon taxes confusing?
