I dig Ketamine but don't want to abuse it. Does anybody know a good time frame for using Ketamine to avoid any bad side effects whether it's mental or physical?

Anytime you use a drug to get high you're abusing it.

I'd space out a week between doses, just like any drug.
Just don't do it everyday or you'll end up like Lilly.

Anonymous #6 said: I'd space it out more than a week. It affects the NMDA receptor, which is involved in learning. If you do too much too often, some of the receptors internalize which affects your memory system. This effect is called plasticity (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synaptic_plasticity) and this particular receptor is very prone to it.
Space out other dissociate anaesthetics (such as Nitrous) which are also in this class.
That is good to know, maybe I will keep it to once every two or three weeks.

Treat it like any other mind blowing psychedelic. Ideally, you want a 2wk break. 1wk is okay, but I find the experience to suffer just a bit in relation to dosage if kept at that pace. Perhaps people who prefer low dosages might be able to get away with shorter breaks, but my preference is generally full blown k-hole dosages which is from where my viewpoint stems. I also advise against redosing.
Heavy ketamine use increases the chance for not only mental impairment, but physical issues as well. Major k-heads who use everyday for years may frequently get k-pains which is supposedly an occasional excruciating pain in the stomach/abdomen. Heavy use is brutal on the kidneys/bladder/urinary tract and problems such as infections and loss of bladder control/having to pee very often are frequent.
Very safe in moderation. This gets thrown out the window with heavy repeated usage.

As opposed to using a drug for its laxative effects?

So using once in a two weeks or even once a month if I want to be real safe is perfectly legit it seems.............
Anon #3, why is using a drug to get high abusing it? Does that mean everyone that smokes occasional marijuana, abuses it every time they get high?

Not in my experience. But then again, I do'nt get itchy with dxm either; an effect commonly reported. Regardless, I do'nt think I've heard about itchiness after k usage before.
Yeah, the bladder thing is fucked up and unfortunate, but it seems to only effect very heavy users. Something to consider though.
Abuse is'nt really a very good term to apply to drug usage and one not worthy to get hung up over. Perhaps drug abuse can be meant to mean usage out of obligation rather than for desired effects, such as in addiction. Labeling recreational usage abuse is quite silly IMO as the recreational attributes are the effects of the drug. If you take an opiate for instance, is the euphoria a side effect of pain relief, or pain relief a side effect of euphoria? They're both effects attributed to the drug. Looking to the dictionary I have here, a definition of abuse is "To make wrong use of". As righteousness is relative, I'd say that the intent of the user is to judge whether or not the usage is abuse, not some agency or other person.

I always just figure "abuse" is a term for when somebody uses a drug to the point that it has an unsavory effect on his general character, his health, his livelihood, his social life, et cetera. If you get ripe and old and you don't have to go to the asylum or the hospital and you hold down a job and you support yourself and you don't alienate anyone, the only "abuse" that has occurred is when you get arrested for your hobby.
Or your picture gets plastered all over the tabloids and your publicists force you to apologize for a bong rip.
Ketamine is fucking great, by the way. I want more.
