 How much are you getting/giving from/to the Government in 2009?

I must say, I didn't expect anything close to this but I am getting around $1,700 back from the Feds and State combined. Along with my $500 Economic Stimulus Rebate, I say I came out pretty good this year for being a student/part time employee. 
Who else has done their taxes?

That is what was indicated to me by Turbo Tax, unless that shit is wrong. I didn't get one last year so I guess this year I get one? It's just a program so who knows if its right about that stuff.

I used turbo tax as well. It asked me how much i got last year, i entered it in, and it didn't change my refund at all. Im assuming that since you didn't get one last year, that by not entering in a amount this year for last year kicks back that money to you. Thats just what im guessing.

I don't but my wife does. I did the first 2 months last year, but then i got laid off. I was getting unemployment and working part time at a pizza place. When unemployment ran out in august i started getting 30+ hours, and the wife and i realized it was a good thing because i am watching our boys during the day. I make more money delivering pizza than i did in a professional job before if you take into account i don't have to pay for daycare lol. My wife works full time as a treasurer and secretary for the school system. She forgot to claim anything on her w2, so they were taking out maximum amount of taxes. I'm sure thats why we are getting so much back. Well that and we had another kid.

Nice, well that sucks about the unemployment thing but at least you get to be with your boys.
and Geo, do you not live in the US or you are just not filing taxes in general?

im getting so much back from taxes. when you work 72 hours a week for 6-7 months out of the year they eat you up in taxes, expecialy if you dont claim any dependents. have to love itemizing and being able to write off hotel's, food, gas, mileage and entertainment as a work expense. i love working on the road so much, get back nearly every penny they take from me each year.
