Not sure if I should have posted it here BUT in a previous thread I posted a question about yellow contamination of 2 trays of Pan cyan.
Seemed to target some straw that wasn't properly shredded. I knew I had seen it before but on something completely different, insects and leaf litter insect tanks.
Conclusion was as suggested a Yeast infection.
Checking a few of my bug enclosures, couldn't find anything, but this morning I checked one of the temporary tanks and BINGO (friend of mine is on holiday and I'm taking care of his stick insects.
Don't know if it is possible for this contam to jump from a dead stick insect to my trays, but it sure looks like the same contamination to me. Only on the stick insect it is more severe then on the straw. Also it doesn't seem to spread that easy, in the same tank another stick insect is lying next to it dead, and this one doesn't show anything
Finally got me some decent pics.... What do you guys think. Is it yeast and is it possible that it colonizes both dead insects and mycelium

I hope anyone has got a scientific name for this little yellow devil...
Never thought it to be a problem, due to the fact it doesn't spread that well in a terrarium/tank but it will be a big nuisance if it can spread to my other hobby.... Something I haven't thought of before. stupid but human, I figured the warmest room in the house ideal for growing without that much extra heating, stable conditions... With cubes i didn't have that much of a contam problem. But now i have my first semi bulk grow and a different species and i have my first serious contamination.

Any 'extra' heat past what is needed to grow your much is a recipe for other contams to germinate and thrive. You don't need 'heat' for cubensis, you just need to get rid of the cold. If the room is too cold for you, its probably to cold for your grows and incubation. Thats a good rule of thumb that I use.

That looks like a conidial fungal infection on the insect. Yeast won't have stems. Very strange indeed. I grow cordyceps on cricket agar, so yes, the same thing could be infecting the insects and your grow.
Was the contamination on your straw little dots, or did it have 'stems' like those on the insect?
Perhaps an entomological board could give you a better answer. I found several on a quick google search for entomological parasites. Post that picture on a few of them and I'll bet somebody has an answer for you. RR

The dots on my straw looked like it might have stems, let's say 80% sure it did have stems.
I cannot say 100 % for sure, the lid on the trays was semi transparent, I didn't want to open it because of more contamination... So after i isolated the trays, and the verdict yeast was given I tossed them without really checking for stems. Just didn't want to keep a contaminated tray in my house to long.
Never thought of postng it on an entomological board... not much fungal knowledge i would expect. Do have a collegue who's a amateur entomologist, think I let him do some searching, he's got better knowhow on what boards might be the best to look.

Are you telling me you don't need to use heating in your FC or incubator. Then i want to live where you live
