Are you an eater, a student or an entheogen experiencer?

Since there aren't many threads dealing with identification I thought it would be a fun experiment to do a demographic about the hunting forum posters. Please, each category could be described in many ways. Rather than debate, as some like to do, about the choice of words, please participate as you are able.
Breaking the hunting topics into three areas, which one applies primarily to you? (chose more than one only if necessary. For example, if you rarely eat mushrooms, do not call yourself an eater.)
Mycophagist (an eater), Student (one who studies mushrooms) or an entheogen experiencer (a person who uses active mushrooms for their effect)?

I did not choose eater though I have eaten wild species and fully intend on repeating and expounding on that.

I pick thousands of mushrooms a year and eat less than 1%. I wouldn't call myself an eater either.

The all three option would have been in the poll you didn't create. Mine had a specific purpose if you read the preface. You can still choose all three so what's the problem, Cptn?

I definitely engage in all three, however if I had to break up my hobby into time spent on each of the three specific interests, there is no contest. "Student".
Though I tend to identify the three divisions by the subject rather than the individual: "Culinary", "Science", and "Psychoactive"
It is funny that you bring this up, because I regularly refer to those three groups, especially when describing "cliques" inside of Mycological Societies.
It's an interesting phenomenon. As a seemingly specific interest group (i.e. Fungi [or so it seems to those outside of our community]) grows in members, it begins to split up into more specific sections.
For instance, when I attended meetings for the San Diego Mycological Society the attendees interaction was much less divided. Certainly people had "friends" who they spent more time speaking with during meets, but not quite so noticeable as when I started attending Mycological Society of San Francisco meetings and events and started to recognize groups or pairs of the same people usually discussing the same topics of interest.
Some people don't prefer such a scenario, and they tend to split their time more equally discussing different topics with different people. I personally prefer this natural social gravitation, since I like to talk science more than culinary or psychoactives.
I'm passionate about all three, but I get a lot more out of conversing with people who speak my language.

To those requesting a 4th option-
I was going to complain for a second too, until I read the content of the first post, where it describes the point of the poll as identifying main interest, and that if say you had equal interest as "Eater" and "Entheogen Experiencer" and could really not choose between the two, but the "Student" aspect was cool in your opinion, but you find yourself skipping the overly scientific parts in posts, then you are able to vote for the two that most interest you.
If you really can't decide, then select all three or don't vote. Please do not create new polls.
Thanks!

That wasn't the point of the thread but it is also part of my experience. I like to talk mushrooms online, period. But science has me hooked.
The "Eaters" appellation came from my experience with clubs. Usually a bunch of hungry people I have no interest in talking to much less hunting with. Pointedly, I don't like them if their focus is that narrow.
Hunter #1: HEY, look at this cool tiny mushroom! Hunter #2 (primarily an eater): Says nothing and walks swiftly by. Hunter #3: Is is staining blue?
I have NO problem with people interested in the entheogenic aspect of mushrooms. Many scientifically minded mycologists were once interested (some still are). I know I was and many here are too. Eaters at clubs just aren't my bag. Sadly, in my experience, many clubs have far more eaters than any other group.
Ok, I'll shut up now. Can someone pass me some gravy?

I guess I am mainly a student, but fit into all three categories, I love to taste known edible fungi just in case I'm missing out on something delicious!

I think almost everyone here dabbles a little in all categories (maybe some exceptions for strictly entheogenic users).
I guess I never got over the question, "What is that?" I started asking that as soon as I learned to talk.

Hahahaha! Yeah, just like that!
I will take everyone hunting at least once. But if every time I show them a mushroom, they initially get excited and respond:
"is it good?" or "can we eat it?"
And then get all bummed out when I explain it is neither edible nor active, then I will take them ONLY once.
I'm happy to find any mushroom. Sure, finding actives or edibles can be rewarding in some ways, but if you value learning then finding anything can be interesting and rewarding. I used to ignore plants, but shortly after noticing mushrooms and going hunting with people who knew about plants as well and could identify them, I couldn't help but ask questions and start to learn something about them as well.

I would love to hunt with you. I'm like, "WOW, look at those gills!" I guess the thing that still excites me the most is something new. If I haven't seen it before it's a big deal. I don't care what it is.
Following that are: Mushrooms that smell great. Anise-smelling or cool ones like Russula fragrantissima. Mushrooms in pristine condition for opportunities for great photos. Any active mushroom. Large quantities of some edible species.
I know most of the plants in my area from working on the eradication of invasives. Some of the plants are so cool. I give guided walk/talks now and then explaining the significance of many of the plants, sometimes crushing the leaves between my fingers and having people smell them.

Yup. I get really worked up over novelty- either unknown or unusual!
When you've been showing someone new to mycology, everything from puffballs, stinkhorns, boletes to agarics, and then you try and explain why an Agrocybe pediades with a stipe growing up and through the top of the pileus is really cool, they kind of lose you.
So I'm glad you understand.
