I'm throwing a birthday party in about 5 minutes and just have one quick question. Pf tek by the way. What should I use as a base for the cake. The Tek says to just use and old jar lid, but then which way do I put the lid? I assume right side up to keep it from resting in water, but they are two piece lids.

I don't think it matters much. I always put my cakes directly on the damp perlite and had good results. Not sure if you knew or not, but you would just use the lid part, not the screw on ring. Or if you don't want your lids to rust you could just use a piece of aluminum foil.

I'm not using perlite though, so I expect a little water build up.

I'm trying to go word for word with the PF How to Book. I'm using the dual chamber and just spraying it everyday. Is it a better idea to go with Perlite? I've seen a lot about this, but the book seems to think this will work better.

Ya definately use some perlite. Much easier and more effective than hand misting. You really don't even need the dual chambered terr. just throw some damp perlite in a rubbermaid tub, set your cakes on top and put a translucent lid or plastic wrap on. All you have to do is fan it several times a day. But if you alread constructed the dual terr I'm sure you'll get good results with that too.
