the only "dangerous" chems in that tek are xylene and lye
if you keep the lye off your skin and use the xylene in a ventilated area youll be fine

i'v been experimenting with my cactus,,, 2 nights ago i grinded the dried cactus up in a coffee grinder mixed with apple juice and water, and drank it. That was a 15 gram dose. Then yesterday I just ate some the old fashioned way, and that time it was 22.5grams...
the 15grams grinded up did not really get me tripping that hard at all, but i could feel "it".../
then when i ate the 22.5grams i had another intense trip, this time it wasn't to heavy on opened eye visuals (definitley had closed eye visuals).., and a pretty damn strong body high. I did not puke on either of these adventures. and i was smoking lots of herb.../
i can't recall how long the 15grams was giving me effects, but the 22.5grams had me tripping for around 9.5 hours. because i ate the cactus at 9:00AM, it kicked in around 1:00PM, and lasted till around 10:30PM..... that was way longer than the trip when I threw up on 25grams..
so,,,,,, if you guys don't puke at all, you're in for a ride........

if you want to extract mescaline from dried cactus material but "relatively safe" is still to scary for you then try making an alcohol tincture with 190 proof everclear.
you can leave the powdered/dried cactus in a jar or bottle with the alcohol for about a week and just mix it up a few times a day by shaking the bottle or jar gently for a few minutes at a time.
once the week is over and you've mixed up the cactus goodies into the alcohol you can strain out the goop and throw it out then pour the alcohol into a flat bottomed glass dish and let alcohol evaporate in a ventilated area. Keep open flames and sparks away from the alcohol!
finally, when the alcohol is all evaporated you should have a thick sludge-tar or syrupy like stuff leftover in the dish which will be made up of chlorophyll, plant fats, and all the alkaloids of the cactus including mescaline. you can eat the tar or put in capsules.
I can't really think of a safer exrataction method but if you want a purer mescaline product you will have to use chemicals.
