COLUMBIA — Two men were arrested on drug possession charges after police found illegal mushrooms and marijuana plants while investigating a disturbance early Friday morning at Gatehouse Apartments, a Columbia Police Department news release stated.
At about 12:48 a.m., police obtained a warrant to search 2401 W. Broadway, Apt. 823, for narcotics while investigating the reported disturbance.
During the search, officers found psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the home, the release stated. Several small marijuana plants were also found to be growing in a bedroom of the apartment, the release stated.
Micah A. Schafer, 21, of 2401 W. Broadway, was arrested on suspicion of manufacture or production of a controlled substance, the release stated. As of 5 p.m. Saturday, Micah Schafer was being held in the Boone County Jail.
Jacob A. Schafer, 23, of 1614 Norma Court, was arrested on suspicion of one felony charge and one misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance and a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Jacob Schafer also had three municipal warrants. On Saturday, he posted a $5,500 bond.
Kelsey R. Fishman, 21, of 311 E. Briarwood Lane, was issued a summons for misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.

OUCH, all the reason to not get into any trouble when growing drugs.
That fungus charge is going to hurt, maybe drug treatment/probation but that still is not going to be easy......beats prison, but damn; only because you don't lose all of your things at the apartment.

Me too, that is dangerous
Prosecutors, some of the dumbest people ever......like you have to prove guilt in this country........it is more like blocking the defense and that is all......cause if you got popped and they actually press charges/indict you.......then your going to be guilty till proven otherwise.........just having to post bond proves that shit!

Exactly. The jury thinks your guilty right when they walk in the door. Its bullshit. Thats not how is supposed to work, but thats exactly how it works. Its the defense trying to prove innocence. Guilty until proven innocent.
Innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
Sounds great on paper... so did communism.

micahs already on probation with a SES. he got a 4 year back up for leaving the scene of an accident. they took a friends car, crashed it, and he left his friend in the passenger seat unconscious with a fucked up neck and back. i gotta look around my comp, but i save mugshots of everyone i know.

Probably because they were in there for the dude that had a warrant for his arrest.......they aren't supposed to go around seizing things and looking in places, unless they are looking for the person or things where laying around.
Or maybe they even smelled pot, or that they were fucked up....judges usually don't throw things out, sometimes they do and sometimes you get a pretty cool prosecutor that shaves off charges....they really weren't there for the drugs so they should consider that.
