You could also use the top and bottom of petri dishes separately, and seal it off with parafilm.

Yes?

Parafilm? Is that the stuff used for covering foods? If so I would be careful doing what u describe here. When you unroll the parafilm a static charge will build up on it. When you come to place it over the petri the spores may well end up sticking to the parafilm (clingfilm as I call it).

I for one dislike prints altogether and personally go either Lc or at least the "Grain LC" route, its just so much more efficient....Plus I just kinda suck at making prints:lol: but why not just put several glass slides together so there is enough to go under the print

just print on heavy duty foil.  i have never had a problem with it.  i do alot of trading of prints and the worst ive seen by far is crappy, cheap, thin foil and goddamn paper.  i dont care if it says acid free, dont print on paper if you expect to trade with people.  i just see no reason for glass except for the neatness of a personal collection.  foil prints store so much more easily and it's sterile rite offf the roll.

No excuses that photo is terrible. We'll just have to take your word on it.

The only advantage to glass is if you put two pieces of glass together with the print in the middle and then seal with duct tape or similar to get an air tight seal that will preserve the print for longer than other methods.

If you're using the print within a year, foil is better, since it's less expensive and easier to work with.  If making syringes, use the non-stick foil and the spores slide right off without scraping.

And when you make prints, put them straight into small ziplock bags after you remove the cap! I get SO annoyed when someone sends me a print in an envelope with nothing but a piece of paper folded over the print.
