Hello.
First off I would like to say hi to everyone. Im new to this forum, as well as growing mushrooms.
I live in southern, wisconsin. I know mushrooms dont grow as nicely in the north as they do in the south, but im going to try anyways, what do i have to lose. Im thinking of growing the strain B+, it sounds like a good one. The reason im doing all this is to keep me and a selective few of my friends trippin, the ones that know how to keep there mouth shut.
The next three months im going to be collecting, supplies I need. Horse shit, quart jars, vermiculite, spore suringes, peat moss, a pressure cooker. I plan on using cracked corn with a little bit of vermiculite as a substrate, in quart jars.
Im also going to be builting little cold frames to keep my plots warmer and more humid. Im willing to water every day if nessesary.
So tell me what you think, am I completely wasting my time or if I put enough effort into my grow will it be worth my while. Also I will be playing around with the PF tek this winter just for a little bit of experience, and ill keep on reading here
The plans for the plots I plan to construct are here, improvised a little bit.

I would like to hear some feed back from you guys, tell me what you think.

ive always used this, or some variation of that. works like a charm. i put a large piece of clear painters plastic over it, with a few slits cut into it. i would water it in initially, then i would lift up the plasticf and spray the hose under it just enough to get everything a little wet. thats for keeping the microclimate warm and humid, not for watering.

Outdoor growing cubes in Wisconsin? Why not go indoors so he can do it all year regardless of outdoors temperatures?

Difficult to fight nature.
Don't try to have a little poodle pull a dog sled.
Don't try to have a big Husky sit on your sofa or lap and behave.
But ..... maybe you'll have a number of months there where the temperatures are fine and you can use plastic sheeting etc. to maintain a nice micro climate and you'll have success ....
Then the season will change, cold weather returns and you'll be finished or you'll be fighting nature.

That was my point. I am in a pretty similar climate zone here in Germany and I know that all I want to grow outdoors are some edibles and Azures. Cubes are strictly indoors for me. And if the OP means what he posted, if it's only going to be for him and a few good friends, why wait for summer and go through the whole bulk outdoors trouble when a small to medium indoor setup would suit him just fine? I'd only grow cubes outdoors if I was in a climate zone that permits outdoor growing all year. Wisconsin? Ain't happening. It's basically like growing Azures or Cyans INDOORS. Yes, you can get results, but they are not going to be ideal. There'll be better things to waste your time and money on.

I am aware that i would have to wait until summer and that I would have to stop as soon as it got cold.
But, I live in a tiny little efficiancy, with one tiny little closet, and i constantly have people coming over whom id rather not know what is going on.
And besides I have to go out there anyways to take care of my herb plants, so its not like its wasted effort.
one more thing (German Kahuna) you mentioned you grow Psilocybe azurescens in a climate similar to mine. Is that something you think I should look into, as an alternative to psilocybe cubensis. Ive heard it a more difficult mushroom to cultivate, however Im more than willing to put time, effort and money into this. Its better that sitting home doing nothing, all day.
