Heres a nice close up picture of shimeji mycelium contaminated with something creamy, not too liquid.
Looks almost like yeast.
I would say bacteria, but it is agar + peroxide. The peroxide strength was tested and added just as the agar was starting to gel.

around the edge of the ring of creamy "bacteria" looking slime there appears to be some mycelium which is growing low and on the surface? If the pink coloration is not from the shimeji then it looks a bit like a Fusarium contamination.
That creamy stuff looks more like bacteria than anything else, even though you say you used a peroxide solution, what strength did you make it?

I added 1ml 3% h2o2 to 150ml MYA
I was assuming the cottony myc was the shimeji. But if not, then I may have a bad culture.
I think the shimmery effect around the outside of the growth on the right is just reflected light

I also assume the cottony growth is the shimeji, i was looking at the pinkish discoloration mostly to the left of the plate.
How did you prepare the mya?

I'm a bit colorblind in the red & green spectrums. I can usually see pink, but I don't here.
I destroyed this one, but next time I will ask my wife to help me spot any off colors on the plate.

Transfer from the leading edge of the mycelium to a new dish. The slime is bacteria.
I strongly disagree with using peroxide in petri dishes. It hinders the mycelium almost as much as the bacteria, thus your mushroom mycelium has two battles to fight. If bacteria is a problem, add 10mg to 20mg of Gentamicin sulfate per liter to the agar prior to sterilization.
It usually takes a series of four or five transfers to get pure, clean mycelium. RR

I am getting tired of this whole peroxide craze. These idiots use it for everything as if it even works.

OK "Noob Slayer", but at least these idiots don't have grammatical errors in their signatures.
I really don't think my first try with agar+peroxide really qualifies as "using it for everything".

I think new growers should get an extra dose of tolerance because this can be a tough hobby to learn, especially with all the conflicting information on this and other sites, as well as in books written on the subject. RR

That is funny. Someone hacked my account last year and messed with all my shit. I have never gotten around to fixing it
