B+ jars & LC -- updated: jars drying out??

This is my first grow preparing all grow materials by myself, so I wanted to get as much feedback as I can. I figured I'd start a log in the process and update this thread instead of continuing to post new ones.
It's been exactly 2 weeks since I inoculated these jars, prepared with organic rye following RR's video tek to the letter, using an AA 915. They were injected with about 2 ccs of a B+ syringe that I had bought about 2 months ago from a vendor and put in the fridge.
Here's how they look now (I took shots of all 4 sides): Jar 1

Jar 2

Jar 3

How do they look? First signs of growth were seen about 8 days ago (6 days after inoculation). They seem to be progressing pretty steadily but I've read a number of posts suggesting that it should only take 10-14 days to fully colonize a quart jar...so I was wondering why these were coming along much slower. They sit in an open shoebox on top of my computer, which is keeping them consistently +/- 2° of 75°F. Ambient temperature in my home is 68-70°F.
Growth seems to be predominantly rhizomorphic in all 3 jars. Here's a detail of nice rhizo from jar 2.

Think these will be ready in a few days to shake up?
I also prepared 2 LCs with the remaining 4 ccs of solution in the syringe. I used 5 mL of Karo in 140 mL distilled water (3.5% by volume), PC-ed for 15 minutes at 15 PSI. Both have lids that allow for gas exchange via either micropore tape or polyfil.
Here's where they stand: LC 1 - prepared 12/6, two pyrex balls in there as agitators

LC 2 - prepared 12/9, I forgot to put an agitator in there

They sit next to the 3 jars above in the same box on my PC. Both seem to be showing about the same amount of growth: two bigger clumps and a couple of smaller ones centered around the visible clusters of spores from the syringe (which I couldn't break up no matter how much I shook). I've been swirling them around a bit every couple of days to agitate them. Again, I was under the impression that 2 weeks later, these would be farther along by now. How long before these will be ready to use?
The plan is to prepare 2 WBS test jars and 7 rye jars once these LCs are ready.
Constructive feedback, comments, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I don't like to bump my own posts...but come on guys, no love?
I'm primarily wondering why my LCs still look so empty after 2 weeks. Shouldn't there be more myc?

Multispore does go slow at times, and an increase of temps would help. But it looks like your doing good so far

Stop giving bad advice! 75F is just perfect for colonization, and whoever keeps colonizing jars at 82F is an idiot... the temperature inside the jar would be at around 86F which is way too hot and promotes contaminates more than mycelium.

Yea guys, seriously - there is no added benefit from having your jars 72F or 80F. Right smack in the middle is perfect, and 80F would be a MAX. I personally set my max at 78F, and got great quick colonization. Temps above 80F you're asking for trouble and contams.

Okay, sounds good. I guess I'll give the LCs another week and see where they're at.
How many quarts of spawn would you recommend using with 1 brick of coir? If 2 quarts would be enough maybe I'll try to do a G2G transfer with the 3rd...
Waiting is truly the hardest part of this hobby!

A half lb brick of coir will expand to about 8 quarts. Seems like most people use between a 1:4 to 1:1 ratio of spawn:substrate.
Anywhere within that range will be fine and is up to you.
I used: 8 quarts coir 1 quart verm 1 quart used coffee grounds 1 quart gypsum (12 quarts) - 5 quarts spawn. (6 quart jars)
Right around 1:2 ratio with a good variety of nutrients/substrates/water capacity.

Shake those puppies at 25% colonized and they will be 100 in no time. I wouldnt go higher with the temp.

Update:
Jars shaken up 2 days after above photos were taken (day 16):

Seem to be recovering well 5 days later:

On a negative note, I don't think my LCs are going anywhere.

It's been 3 weeks for the one on the left and 18 days for the on on the right. I suspect it's either contamination or weak genes, and in either case I don't think I'll do anything with them anyway. One concern I had was that maybe I used too low of a sugar/water ratio. 5 mL Karo in 150 mL water is about a 3% ratio which is a tad lower than the 4% suggested. I wanted to stay on the safe side instead of using a sugar-rich formulation which I've read could cause the mycelium to go into diabetic shock...but maybe I didn't give it enough nutes?
I prepared 2 LCs with magnetic stir bars for a new grow. 3 days in and they're already looking pretty promising...will post about that one in a bit.

Oh, I forgot to also mention that I ended up building a heatbomb since I made more jars with some new syringes, and I wanted to get them off of my computer and out of the open. It seems to be working pretty well. Temperature ranges from about 78° right next to the heatbomb to about 70° on the farthest edge in the plastic tote I have them in. It also appears to be a few degrees warmer higher up.

wow looks great man, Im just a little further than you with some quarts of WBS, and plan on monotubin them.
They take off real fast after you shake, mine were knocked up with LC on the 18th, and now are at around 90-95% done, so dont give up on the LC's, its REALLY worth it.
Try making them in mason jars, I take a wide mouth pint jar, with one silicon injection port, and a square of tyvek taped over a 1/4 in hole for air. I put the jar on my digi and zero it, add 8 grams of light corn syrup, fill it up to the 200ml line on the side of the jar, PC for 20mins t 15psi and they work great!

Thanks! I'm definitely planning to try using pint mason jars next time. These ones I got don't seem to be holding up to sterilization temps too well. Once the adhesive that held the seal to the cap melted and got all in my stuff.
Planning to spawn this to coir this time once it's ready. Hopefully, in another week!

Great to here! Id go with glass or magnetic stir bars if available, I used a marble, and it doesn't seem to do much but run it over haha.
Mine are gonna be done any day now, and im spawning to coir too in a mono, I just picked up a brick today.
I think yours will be done pretty fast, once you shake they just take right off. Lookin good!

I like your style - incubator, jars, etc. Nice to see someone treating their babies with respect. I tear up when i see people using soda bottles and plastic buckets to torture their children.

Update:
Day 25. It has now been 9 days since jars were shaken up. Getting a bit concerned, but maybe things are okay. Row on top are photos taken just now. Row below are photos taken on the 27th.

Not nearly as much progress as the 2 days between the 25th and 27th. I'm wondering if my jars might be drying out a bit -- they look like they might be.
Also, the mycelium doesn't seem to be taking on the super dense sort of growth that I often seen in completed grow logs.
Can anyone take a look at the high res versions and give me some opinions?

In my opinion some look a little bit dry, but for the most part they look ok.

from the perspective of another that is new to too many firsts all at once... it is far too easy to get paranoid... particularily if you spend too much time reading the contam threads.... every jar i have ever had seems to take about a year longer to go from 99% to 100% than it did from 1% to 99%... your jars look nice to me... ignore them for a few days if you can and see.... the worst test of patience ever... that said i am not the most experienced of voices and i am sure someone other has something better to say....
