I just it guess delves down to what your personal opinion of an "addiction" is.
The only addictions I feel are "real" addictions are physical ones.
--------------------
A human being is a part of the whole, called by us 'Universe', a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest — a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. - Albert Einstein

Seven pages of angry semantic bullshit over the definition of an abstract concept.

You could stop arguing over something that has a definition. You could try that.

Not necessarily arguing over the definition.
But since you brought it up, I guess I can continue.

Holy crap, this thread reached 8 pages all of a sudden?
I couldn't stand reading past page 3. I'm amazed by the ignorance. You people actually believe that all depression is caused by something logical, and you can't fuck with your brain chemistry?
God. It pisses me off that stupid people like this exist, and it pisses me off more that they use mind expanding drugs on a regular basis and can have such a closed mind about something that isn't even remotely abstract or even debated in the scientific community. Chemical imbalances exist, you goddamn idiots. Hopefully nobody is so foolish as to disagree with this. Now that we've established that, can we acknowledge that fucking with said chemicals in a perfectly healthy individual could CREATE an imbalance?
Amazing.
