Tape. I enjoy a more sleek professional, "Look" to my projects. And like Damion said, its less of a hustle/mess. a roll of tape takes up less room in my supply closet as well, apposed to a bulky bag of polyfill. I work in a hot-water heater closet, so I'm pretty cramped.

"We have to create culture, don't watch TV, don't read magazines, don't even listen to NPR. Create your own roadshow. The nexus of space and time where you are now is the most immediate sector of your universe, and if you're worrying about Michael Jackson or Bill Clinton or somebody else, then you are disempowered, you're giving it all away to icons, icons which are maintained by an electronic media so that you want to dress like X or have lips like Y. This is shit-brained, this kind of thinking. That is all cultural diversion, and what is real is you and your friends and your associations, your highs, your orgasms, your hopes, your plans, your fears. And we are told 'no', we're unimportant, we're peripheral. 'Get a degree, get a job, get a this, get a that.' And then you're a player, you don't want to even play in that game. You want to reclaim your mind and get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers who want to turn you into a half-baked moron consuming all this trash that's being manufactured out of the bones of a dying world."

You should be able to get it at walmart or any pharmacy you need to make sure it says micropore on it.. And it usually withstands the pc..

^ i still use poly too, the only reason i dont like it is the fact every different person that uses it will pack it to a different fit, sometimes way too loose, sometimes way too tight. With micropore or tyvek, there's no variation in effect of FAE by the way you apply it. You could figure out a fool-proof monotub with perfect FAE everytime.
like all monotubs arent full proof anyways though... their just not fool-proof. lol.

good point. you cant go wrong with it packed loosely imo. just keep an eye on the humidity with a decent hygrometer. i pack my tubs pretty loose and my humidity stays decent and i have the peace of mind that its getting decent fae.

yeah, plus you can look at the little circle around the polyfil on the tub wall that isnt condensed.

I haven't used micropore tape on monotubs.
I have used polyfill and tyvek.
I have been fruiting the monotubs outside on a deck where a good breeze often blows ... and I thought tyvek would be better ... I have plenty of wind and I didn't want the bulk substrate drying out.
Wrong. for me
Tyvek really restricted the FAE and the air inside the monotubs stagnated.
Polyfill works best for me.
I went back and experimented with tyvek during the colonization phase of the monotubs (when FAE isn't 'needed') with the plan to change to polyfill for fruiting. The monotubs were in a closet with no air movement. That combined with the tyvek = a real funky smell and green mold.
I am a polyfill guy. I would rather error on the 'too much air exchange / drying substrate' side, than error on the 'stagnant air / wet/ mold' side.
I apply a casing layer and mist and fan monotubs during fruiting to guard against lack of FAE and drying substrate. People get their monotubs dialed where moisture and FAE is balanced. I haven't yet. Plus I like to fiddle and fuss.
Polyfill for me.
Is micropore tape more like polyfill or tyvek for FAE?

I use tyvek (Not on the poll) So I voted polyfill, I bought a huge bag of the shit forever ago, and still have plenty, so If my tyvek supply gets low I figure that bag of poly fill needs to get used up. I have yet to try micropore tape.

yeah well i've never really thought about tyvek, it does seem to restricting so i didnt add it on the poll. plus micropore tape will stick right on it and look a lot neater, only two answer's im looking for and the results are really surprising so far.. almost an even amount of people use one of each.
hmmmmm, micropore-phenomenon. i think i need to do some testing.
