A few Dunk n Roll questions...

Hey all. I'm new here, and working on my first grow. I have 12 half pints of Ecuador grown on BRF.
I'm varying my birthing methods for each few jars to find out what does best so I can use it for my next cycle.
First question: I opened up two jars today, quickly dunked them, then immediately rolled them in dry verm. -Should I not have rolled if I have not dunked for the 'minimum' 6 hours? -As for misting the 'casing', should I spray real close to the verm? And how wet should it be?
Next question: I opened up two more and put them into a bowl of cold faucet water. There was no immediate object to use to weigh them down to be 100% submerged. -Do they need to be 100% submerged for dunking to be effective? -I have a pretty airtight lid on the bowl they are in. Is this correct? -Is it fine to let them sit in room temperature while they are hydrating?
I know these are pretty nit-picky questions....I just want my first time to be as informative as possible, I plan on doing this again immediately after I get a cap to print.
Also, the first two cakes I put right from the jar into the fruiting chamber...one is knotting well it seems, but the other is not fairing as well. Is there a way to tell if they are too dry before they start turning blue?
I greatly appreciate any tips. I've been reading this forum for a few days now and y'all seem like some primo people to come to.

Well, the reason you dunk for 12-24 hours is to let the water soak into the cake thus providing hydration. Keep in mind this is NOT a neccesary step, it just provides more water to your cake (which in turn CAN produce bigger and heavier fruits). The rolling in verm is to provide a constant moisture level as well a contam barrier. Id say you're fine rolling them in verm. Im not sure about the casing question, but my guess would not to get to close to the verm and let the mist action of your sprayer do its job. Dont over saturate, ive seen lots of info saying your casing should "glisten" and that was the perfect point of saturation.

to be 100% effective id say yes they need to be fully submerged. This ensures that all areas of the cake are receiving water, but again its not completely neccessary to do this step so you should be ok. Airtight lids are great! This helps prevent any airborne or nearby contams from invading your cakes. The room temp dunk vs the fridge dunk seems to be widely debated. From what i read Cube species do not like to be cold shocked (leaving them in fridge *note it appears that this does not apply to B+ strains). But its also worthwhile to note that it seems that coldshocking slows down the rate of pinning. I have not witnessed this firsthand (as i have not completed my first grow yet), but a lot of people who have grown note this happening. Hope this helps man!
