Robbie Williams was once so high on LSD he tried to stab himself.
The former Take That singer made the startling revelation in his blog on his official website.
The 34-year-old, who is now clean, revealed he started experimenting with illegal drugs when he was 16.
Robbie had a scary experience with LSD when he visited the popular Shelley's Laserdome nightclub in his hometown of Stoke-On-Trent in the early Nineties.
Writing on his blog, Robbie said: 'It was at Shelley's where I had my first acid experience.
'We were in Golden Hill (Staffordshire town), in someone's kitchen probably. I was given a tiny piece of paper to ingest. Es were too expensive for the Potteries. £15 - who could afford that? There was a band called The Prodigy performing that night and I thought they were really good.
'Afterwards we drove up to the garage and the police were on the forecourt. S**t, I thought. I want to go home, I'm scared. There is only one place I want to be - at home with my mum. American footballs were coming out of the TV.
'So I decided to go downstairs and stab myself. Mum came out of her room and said, "What are you doing?"
'I told my mum: "I'm just going downstairs to stab myself - do you want a cup of tea?"'
Robbie admitted he started drinking heavily and taking drugs after quitting Take That in 1996.
After being forced into rehab by Sir Elton John in 1997, Robbie went on to develop a dependency on prescription drugs.
He spent several weeks in rehab in Arizona last year and is currently working on his eighth studio album, scheduled for release next year.
