Yes they do vary from location. Subbs tend to do it alot.

Sample measurements: Spore lengths 11-15(17.7) microns Cheilocystidia 27-33 microns
Species: Panaeolus fimicola as per Gerhardt: Spore lengths (9)11-14(15) microns Cheilocystidia 25-32 microns
Key features are the presence of "Sulphidia" aka Pleurocystidia of the Chrysocystidia type, and spores with a germ pore that is oblique in side view. The sulphidia are somewhat amorphous, difficult to resolve and sometimes resemble malformed yellowish basidia. I've observed a similar, if not the same, species from Florida that is psilocybin-active.
An exceptionally large and atypical spore is included in the composite. The oblique germ pore of the spores is not well represented in the composite but was clearly observed in other preparations (see below, slightly out of focus).

Tah Dah!

Excellent job and THANK YOU! I just had the feeling these weren't subbs.
Couple of questions:
1) In the first picture, are those tracings of the photographs showing each feature?
2) You list the spore measurements in the sample as lengths. Does that mean you didn't measure the width?
3) How many spores did you measure and how are you doing the math to arrive at your figures?
This is very exciting for me as there was only one in the yard. I noticed it immediately even though it was small and thought "Subb." Then I looked closer and said, "Hey, wait a minute!"
I am so happy. Thank you very very very much!

1) Yes, I am trying a new technique to highlight the shape of the structures. Its a bit of a hybrid between a scientific drawn figure and a micrograph.
2) I didn't measure the widths but I can if needed. This was just a quick summary and I can flesh it out more.
3) I measured 43 spores, I put the measurements into Excel. The majority of the spores are in the range given with outliers (that huge anomolous spore) in the parenthesis.
Mean spore length is 13.05 microns.

I like the new technique. I was wondering if that was what you were doing.
Nah, you don't need to measure the widths. I was just wondering if you did.
You measured 43 spores?!?!? You have more patience than I do. As you know, 30 spore measurements are the required number.
Thanks again.
