Question about popcorn tek and metal lids...

I started soaking some popcorn last night and it will be ready to use tonight, so later on I am going to PC some popcorn jars. I am using one of the popcorn TEKs (http://www.shroomery.org/9035/Popcorn-Tek-w-pics) and I am a bit confused about what he uses for lids... It seems that he just puts on a filter disk and the metal band, and does NOT use the metal lid at all...
Would I be able to just put a piece of tyvek over the lid and then secure it with the metal band? Or is it better to put on the metal lid with a couple holes punched through it, then tyvek over that, then the metal band to secure it all?
Thanks!

You don't want your filter material to get wet. Punch a couple of small holes in a standard lid, add the filter disc or tyvek, then secure with the metal band. Be sure to cover that with foil before PCing.

I fill my jars only to 50% with grain, then there is enough oxygen inside for months. Never needed any filter or holes.
