would it be possible to have more control over our journals?
I know you dont delete threads but maybe for journals you would make an exception? When I delete my journal entry, and there is a blank one just sitting there its a PITA. I would like to be able to delete another members post as well. Lock/unlock the journal, move the topics around so that my old mycology threads and be with my new ones rather then mixed in with my other threads. It would just be nice for organization purposes

You can do that.
Go to the bottom of the page and there is a pull down menu that says "Manage this thread"
I think you can do all the things you mentioned there from that menu.

you cannot delete the thread only delete the content and lock it. leaving a blank entry which I hate.

I just went into my journal and deleted a couple threads... 
Maybe I'm not understanding you? The threads are gone, there is no blank space.

crazy... when I was looking earlier, it was only showing lock thread. Im still looking for a way to delete other users posts, and be able to move my entries around.

That you can't do. You can't move entries around.
What you can do to get around it is sticky a topic, it will go to the top. Sticky another topic and now it's the top and the last one is second, etc.
You can delete entire threads completely, but as far as I know you can't delete individual posts without leaving a space.
I agree though it would be nice to have greater control of the journals.
