 I Feel Like Age Is My Handicap

First of, I'm 19 years old. Every time I get on here and try to go for a gathering or something, I always feel like the odd one out because I'm so young. The thing is I generally aren't around people of my age. Usually people age 25-50. I'm always told I'm beyond my years but no one on here would know. I smoke weed with an "old head" pretty much everyday and he always tells me about his crazy stories about going to Vietnam on acid and what not, and just hang out everyday. I don't know what it is but I feel like I always have to explain my age. If you were planning a foray and a 19 year old wanted to come you would have an automatic prejudice, am I right? Or is this just some fear I have? Any responses would be appreciated.

I'm also 19...and I can definitely relate. I have no friends around my age. 
Maybe we're prejudiced against 19-year-olds too...so maybe work on that first?

I'm 19. I've never really felt it hold me back from anything other than legally purchasing alcohol/going to bars. I'm friends with people of ages ranging from 18-25

I blazed with two guys that ended up being 16 the other day. At first it was really irritating, until I realized the only thing dumber than an opinionated 16 year old is an opinionated 25 year old arguing with an opinionated 16 year old. After that I just giggled at their goofy ideas, and had a good time.

Haha ya. And I do hang out with people that are my age, but they are like me.I have to agree with the general prejudice that 18 and 19 year olds are immature and just not what I like to surround myself with. I've already done the party scene and getting FUCKED up, doing crazy stuff when I was 16-17. Now I'm interested in things I just can't relate with people I went to school with, not necessarily people my age, because it's not like I can say there aren't ANY other people like me at my age.

19 here as well. Just don't worry about all that crap and makes friends with whoever you can because eventually you'll be 50 wishing you were 19 again.

hell ya man, my one buddy is in a band and we always sit around a fire pass around a couple bowls and he just plays guitar and harmonica and sings classic rock.
I like it when we get around to the tom petty part of the night

Don't act like a nublet and people won't ask you to explain your age. I'll be 21 in a month here, but I never had a problem with folks in their mid twenties when I was 16, much less 19.

No offense man, but we were mostly your age when this (shroomery) all started! I was only 20 when I found the shroomery, for example. The first gathering I went to there was a 17 year old in attendance (this is back before we had the no-under-18 rule).
In fact, the one thing I think you can say about this place, is that age hardly comes into play at all. If you think people are being prejudiced against you...it won't be because of your age. Something else is in play here

No, it's not that I'm being subjected to any prejudices what so ever, and never have. What I'm saying, is when experienced mushroom hunters, and professionals ask me to go on a hunt or foray with them, I feel like it's my obligation to say "well just to let you know I'm 19...etc)

yeah I just turned 21, and have definately noticed that im at a different phase then all of my friends who are still stuck in drama party every night mode. I much prefer the more mature older crowd, and I dont think age is ever a problem, unless you act like a little kid, thats the only way i could see someone treating you bad because of your age. I wouldnt think about it to much.

I definitely feel you on that one. I don't really like doing the crazy party thing. There are a few friends of mine that are always good to just smoke a bowl and sit around and talk...play music, etc
People that are into partying all the time, and getting fucked up constantly when they are younger just grow up to do other equally boring shit IMO. On the other hand they probably feel the same way about me. My friends that used to go out and get fucked up every night now go out drinking expensive booze, and chillin in cigar bars. Its beyond boring to me, but they seem to enjoy it so meh...whatever
